Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Swissvoice MP01 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TJB-1)

This is a 3.7V Li-ion battery rated at 1000mAh (3.7Wh), built to the TJB-1 specification. It fits the Swissvoice MP01 mobile phone — a compact handset used primarily for voice calls and basic messaging. If the original cell no longer holds a charge or the phone dies unpredictably, this is the direct swap.

  • MP01 platform fit: The MP01 uses a single-cell Li-ion pack at 3.7V nominal. The TJB-1 format matches the connector pinout and physical footprint — 54.61 × 35.16 × 5.31mm — so the cell seats correctly without case pressure or connector strain.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and load on a matched test rig. The BMS held cutoff correctly at both the low-voltage floor and charge termination point. No false trips under the MP01's typical modem and screen draw.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: After fitting a new cell, run the MP01 from 100% down to auto-shutdown once before recharging. The phone's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle rewrites that reference and prevents the percentage jumping erratically in normal use.

Why the MP01 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The MP01's fuel gauge IC tracks capacity using a stored discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour. The gauge reads voltage and estimates percentage against stale reference data, so it can report 40% when the cell is nearly empty — or show a sudden drop from 60% to 10%. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by a complete charge resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual curve.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage collapses under load before the gauge registers a low reading. During a call, the modem draws a short current spike — if the cell cannot sustain voltage above roughly 3.2V under that load, the phone's protection circuit cuts power immediately. The gauge still shows 20–30% because it was reading resting voltage, not loaded voltage. After the first full calibration cycle, the gauge tracks this more accurately and the shutdowns typically stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MP01 won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for months — is the battery dead?

Probably not dead, but the BMS has locked out. Li-ion cells that drop below approximately 2.5V trigger a protection cutoff that blocks normal charging. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing the power button. Most BMS circuits on 3.7V single-cell packs like the TJB-1 will accept a trickle recovery charge at that voltage and unlock once the cell climbs back above 3.0V.

The MP01 gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges after fitting the TJB-1 — is that normal?

Yes, and it settles. A new high-impedance cell has slightly higher internal resistance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates more heat during the constant-current phase. We saw the same on the bench — surface temperature was elevated for the first two to three cycles, then dropped as the cell's internal resistance fell with cycling. If warmth continues past the third full charge, check that the battery contacts are fully seated and no debris is bridging the connector pins.

The battery percentage on the MP01 jumps around erratically — it shows 55%, then skips to 30% without warning. What's causing it?

The fuel gauge IC is still recalibrating against the new cell's discharge profile. The old reference curve stored in firmware doesn't match the TJB-1's actual voltage-versus-capacity slope, so the gauge mis-maps voltage readings to percentage values. Run one complete cycle — full charge to automatic shutdown, then charge back to 100% without interruption. That single uninterrupted cycle gives the coulomb counter enough data to anchor the new curve, and the jumping should stop.
