Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Switel D-7000 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This 2.4V, 450mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original rechargeable pack in the Switel D-7000 cordless phone handset. It restores wireless operation when the original cell no longer holds a charge after repeated cycles. Dimensions are 41.97 × 18.26 × 8.89mm — confirm these against your existing pack before ordering.
- Switel D-7000 handset fit: The D-7000 handset uses a compact 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH pack on a low-current DECT RF circuit. Voltage, physical size, and connector orientation all need to match exactly — a mismatched cell count will prevent the base station from completing its charge cycle.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a 2.4V Ni-MH test rig. The cell accepted a full charge without thermal event and held stable voltage under the low standby draw typical of DECT handsets.
- First-charge protocol for Ni-MH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it undisturbed for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in partial-discharge state need this slow initial charge to reach rated 450mAh capacity — skipping it means the first several cycles will run short.
Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement
Ni-MH cells don't deliver full capacity on the first charge out of the box — this is normal chemistry, not a fault. New cells typically need three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. Each cycle, the cell's internal crystal structure stabilises and capacity steps up noticeably. Run the handset until it beeps low, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — by cycle five, talk time should match the rated output.
Base station charge light stays off or shows error after fitting new battery
After storage, Ni-MH packs can drop below the voltage threshold the base station uses to detect a valid battery — the charger circuit reads it as absent or faulty and won't initiate a charge. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, then reseat it firmly so the charge contacts are fully flush. If the light still won't trigger, use a separate 2.4V Ni-MH trickle charger to bring the pack up to at least 2.2V, then return it to the base. Once the base sees voltage above its acceptance threshold, normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Switel D-7000 handset won't pair with the base after I swapped the battery — what happened?
Removing the battery from a DECT handset kills all RAM, and some D-7000 units lose their pairing registration when power drops to zero. The handset needs to re-register with the base from scratch. Hold the page/find button on the base unit for five seconds, then follow the handset's pairing sequence — the process takes under two minutes and the handset will reconnect at full signal.
The new battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — is it faulty?
This points to a seating issue, not a faulty cell. If the handset charge contacts aren't flush against the base cradle pins, the base never triggers a charge current and the handset runs entirely off the battery in standby. Remove the handset, clean the gold contacts on both the handset and cradle with a dry cloth, reseat firmly, and check that the charge indicator light activates. A properly seated D-7000 handset draws charge continuously from the base and should show a full cell within four hours.
After the new battery is fully conditioned, the D-7000 loses signal range sooner than I expect — why?
DECT transmit power is directly tied to cell voltage — as a Ni-MH pack discharges past roughly 2.1V, the RF output drops and range shrinks noticeably before the handset actually shuts off. This is more visible with a fresh replacement because the new cell hits its voltage knee at a different point in the discharge curve than a worn pack. There's no fix for the physics, but keeping the handset in the base between calls keeps the pack topped above 2.3V and maintains full transmit power. If range is still poor on a fully charged pack, check for wireless interference on the 2.4GHz band near the base.
