Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

EXTEL PASFCB — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 300mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the EXTEL PASFCB cordless handset. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores wireless operation when the original cell can no longer hold a charge. Capacity is 300mAh (1.08Wh), matching the original specification.

  • PASFCB handset fit: The PASFCB uses a compact 3-cell Ni-MH pack on a 3.6V rail. The physical dimensions — 31.00 × 30.41 × 10.64mm — match the original cavity, and the connector orientation aligns with the handset's battery port. No modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a DECT handset platform at 3.6V. The BMS accepted charge from the base station without triggering a fault light, and the cell voltage held stable across standby and active call draw.
  • First charge on NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH chemistry in cordless phones needs a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this step will reduce usable talk time on early cycles.

Talk time shorter than expected on a new pack

NiMH cells ship partially discharged and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they deliver rated capacity. On cycle one, you may see noticeably shorter talk time — this is normal, not a fault. Each full cycle conditions the cell chemistry and pushes usable capacity closer to the rated 300mAh. After five cycles, talk time should stabilise at or near the original battery's performance.

Base station charge indicator not activating on a fresh battery

DECT base stations check incoming voltage before initiating a charge cycle. A Ni-MH pack that has sat in storage can drop below the threshold the base expects — typically under 3.0V — causing the base to show no charge light or an error indicator. The fix is to leave the handset seated in the base undisturbed for at least 30 minutes. The trickle circuit will raise cell voltage enough for the base to recognise the pack and switch to full charge mode.

Frequently Asked Questions

My EXTEL PASFCB handset is losing range — could the new battery be causing it?

Yes, and this is a known Ni-MH behaviour. When a NiMH pack hasn't been fully conditioned, voltage sags under the RF transmit load the DECT radio draws during a call, and the handset pulls back transmit power to compensate. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles first. After conditioning, the pack should hold voltage steadily enough to maintain full range.

The PASFCB handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — why?

Some DECT handsets store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is fully removed. Swapping the battery breaks that power, wiping the pairing. Re-register the handset at the base using the registration button — on most DECT bases this means holding the page/register button for three seconds until the base enters pairing mode, then confirming on the handset.

The battery drains completely overnight even when the PASFCB handset is sitting in the base — what's wrong?

This points to poor contact between the handset charging pins and the base cradle, not a battery fault. If the pins are not fully seated, the base cannot charge and the handset runs on standby draw until the cell is flat. Clean the charging contacts on both the handset and the cradle with a dry cloth, reseat the handset, and check that the charge indicator light activates within two minutes of placing it in the base.
