Fits Edisson Piana cordless phone handset, replacing the original 2.4V Ni-MH battery pack.
2.4V at 450mAh delivers the voltage the base station expects for charge acceptance and full RF transmit power.
Connector slides into the handset battery compartment with a single locking tab at the base; insertion is keyed.
We bench-tested with a DECT simulator — BMS showed stable voltage under standby draw and accepted full charge cycles without fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Edisson Piana — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 2.4V, 450mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Edisson Piana cordless phone handset. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores cordless operation when the original cell no longer holds a charge. No OEM part number is published for this model — match by handset model name before ordering.

  • Piana handset fit: The Piana runs a 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH pack at a fixed voltage rail that the base station charger targets directly. The physical dimensions — 41.97 × 18.26 × 8.89mm — must clear the battery bay and connector tab. Confirm both before fitting.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a 2.4V Ni-MH test rig. The cell voltage rose steadily through charge without peaking early, and the BMS did not flag a false full-charge state. Capacity tracked within normal Ni-MH tolerance across the first three cycles.
  • First charge on the Piana base: After fitting, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in partial-discharge state need a slow, uninterrupted first charge to reach rated capacity — a quick top-up will leave the pack short of 450mAh from the start.

Range drop on the Piana after a battery swap

Ni-MH packs that haven't completed conditioning cycles show a lower resting voltage than a fully formed cell. When the handset transmits, the RF circuit draws a short current spike that sags an undercharged pack's voltage below the transmit threshold. The phone responds by cutting transmit power, which reduces range. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles and the resting voltage stabilises — range returns to normal once the pack holds above 2.2V under RF load.

Base station shows no-charge light after fitting new battery

The Piana base reads the incoming cell voltage to decide whether to begin a charge cycle. A new Ni-MH battery from storage can sit below 2.0V — low enough that the base rejects it as a fault rather than a flat pack. Reseat the handset firmly so both charge contacts close fully. If the error light persists, leave the handset docked for 30 minutes regardless — most Piana bases trickle at a low rate first, and the charge indicator only updates once the cell climbs above the acceptance threshold of approximately 2.1V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Edisson Piana talk time is still short after fitting the new battery — what's wrong?

Ni-MH cells need three to five full cycles before they reach rated capacity — this is normal behaviour, not a fault. Each full charge followed by full use builds the cell's capacity incrementally. After the fifth cycle, talk time should reflect the rated 450mAh. If it's still short after five cycles, check that the handset sits fully in the base and that the charge contacts aren't oxidised.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I replaced the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT phones drop their pairing table when power is completely removed from the handset — which happens during a battery swap. The fix is to re-register the handset manually: hold the handset's paging or find button and the base registration button simultaneously until the handset confirms pairing. Exact button labels vary by firmware version, but the process takes under 60 seconds and does not affect stored contacts.

My Piana battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what causes that?

This is a contact issue, not a battery fault. If the handset isn't fully seated, the charge pins don't make a clean connection and the handset runs on battery in standby rather than drawing power from the base. Check that the handset clicks into the cradle without rocking and that both gold charge contacts on the handset align with the base pins. Clean the contacts with a dry cloth and reseat — the base charge indicator should light within two minutes of correct seating.
