Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Symbol MC9000 / MC909X-K Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BRTY-MC90SAB00-01)
This 7.4V, 3400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in Symbol MC9000 series mobile computers, including the MC909X-K and MC9090-K. It fits the multi-pin connector and BMS handshake protocol used across the MC9000 platform. Slot it in, seat it in the cradle, and the unit resumes normal charging and boot behaviour.
- MC9000 platform fit: The MC9000, MC909X-K, MC9090-K, and related MC909 variants share the same 7.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication bus — one pack covers the full range without adapters or firmware workarounds.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on MC9000-series hardware and verified BMS handshake completion, correct state-of-charge reporting on the device display, and stable voltage delivery through combined scan and wireless transmit loads.
- First-shift cradle cycle: After installing a new pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and let it complete a full charge cycle before starting pick-and-pack. The scan trigger draws peak inrush current at low cell voltage — a pre-charged pack prevents a false BMS trip on the opening scan burst of the first shift.
Cradle showing charging error on a new MC9000 pack
The MC9000 cradle reads battery state through the pack's contact pads before initiating a charge cycle. If those pads have oxidation, shipping residue, or uneven seating pressure, the dock sees high contact resistance and throws a charge fault. Wipe the gold contacts on the battery and the cradle bay with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the pack with firm downward pressure until the latch clicks. If the error clears within 30 seconds, the contacts were the issue — not the pack or the cradle electronics.
Scanner losing wireless connection during a rapid scan burst
During a rapid scan burst, the MC9000 pulls current for the imager or laser, the CPU decode cycle, and the 802.11 radio transmit all within a tight window. A weakened or deeply discharged cell can't sustain voltage through that combined draw, and the radio drops off first because it requires a stable rail to maintain association. The BMS may not trip — the device stays on, but the wireless link drops and reconnects, causing missed transmissions. Charge the pack to full before the shift and confirm resting voltage is above 7.2V before loading the unit into rotation.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MC9000 scanner stops reading barcodes right after I swap the battery — why?
The imager or laser module needs a minimum voltage threshold to fire correctly, and a new pack that hasn't been through a full charge cycle may deliver enough voltage to boot the device but not enough to sustain the scan trigger under load. The BMS can also flag a protection event on the first high-current trigger pull if the cell is near minimum. Seat the pack in the cradle and complete a full charge cycle before use — the scanner should read cleanly once resting cell voltage is at or above 7.4V.
The MC9000 cradle shows a charging error but the battery was working fine in the old unit — what's wrong?
This is almost always a contact resistance issue, not a failed pack. The cradle's charge controller measures pack voltage through the contact pads before it starts charging, and any residue or slight misalignment on those pads causes the controller to report a fault. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contact pads on both the pack and the cradle bay with a dry lint-free cloth, and reseat firmly until the latch clicks. The charging indicator should turn solid within 30 seconds if contacts were the cause.
The new battery feels noticeably warm after a full warehouse shift — is that normal?
The MC9000 housing is enclosed with limited airflow, and sustained combined load — continuous scan bursts plus active 802.11 radio polling — generates heat that has nowhere to go. Warm-to-touch is within normal range; hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold is not. Check that the battery vent area on the pack isn't blocked by a holster or case insert. If the pack is running hot consistently, check the scan burst rate and radio polling interval in the device configuration — reducing unnecessary polling frequency lowers steady-state current draw and pack temperature.
