Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Epson TM-P60 M196A — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 7.4V 3400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Epson TM-P60 M196A and TM-P60 mobile receipt printers. These are compact thermal printers used in retail, hospitality, and field service environments. Capacity is drawn from product data at 25.16Wh.

  • TM-P60 and M196A platform fit: Both the TM-P60 and TM-P60 M196A share the same battery bay geometry, voltage rail, and connector pinout. The BMS on each unit handshakes at 7.4V nominal, and this cell meets that threshold without requiring firmware changes or adapter hardware.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the TM-P60 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without throwing a fault code, and the protection circuit responded correctly to simulated low-voltage and overcurrent conditions during print head activation.
  • First-use tip for mobile receipt printers: The TM-P60 draws a sharp current spike each time the thermal print head fires a full-width line. Install the battery and run a full charge cycle before the first print job — a partially charged cell at first use can trigger the BMS protection cutoff mid-receipt if the print head demand exceeds the cell's delivery threshold.

Why the TM-P60 stops mid-print on an aged or new battery

The TM-P60 thermal print head pulls current in bursts, not continuously. On a degraded original battery, internal resistance rises enough that the voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold during a high-density print line, killing the job mid-receipt. The same can happen with a new replacement if the cell ships at storage charge — around 3.7V per cell — rather than full charge. A complete charge cycle before first use brings both cells to 4.2V and gives the BMS enough headroom to handle peak print-head demand without tripping.

Printer shows "battery low" immediately after installing a new pack

This is a state-of-charge reporting issue, not a faulty cell. The TM-P60 reads cell voltage to estimate charge level, and a new battery shipped at storage voltage will register as low or critically low on the printer's display. Place the unit in its charging dock or connect via the USB-C port and charge to full before judging the battery. Once the pack reaches 8.4V total (4.2V per cell), the printer's fuel gauge resets and reports correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TM-P60 keeps cutting out halfway through a print job — is this the battery?

Yes, and it is a voltage sag issue. The thermal print head fires in full-width bursts that pull a sharp current spike, and if the battery is near the bottom of its charge the voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold mid-print. Charge the pack fully before the shift, then test with a dense receipt — a full charge puts each cell at 4.2V and gives the BMS enough headroom to handle the peak draw without tripping.

The TM-P60 is not holding a Bluetooth connection during back-to-back receipt printing — could the battery cause this?

It can. The TM-P60 runs the Bluetooth radio and the print head from the same battery, and back-to-back print jobs plus a live wireless connection create a combined load that causes voltage sag on a degraded pack. When voltage sags, the radio is the first subsystem to drop its connection before the printer itself shuts down. If the original battery is over two years old or shows swelling, swap it — a fresh cell at full charge stabilises the voltage rail under combined radio and print-head draw.

The charging dock shows an error light when I seat the new TM-P60 battery — what is wrong?

Most dock charging errors on a new pack come from contact resistance at the battery terminals, not a faulty cell. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the dock cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the battery firmly until it clicks. If the error clears within 30 seconds of reseating, the connection was the issue. If the error persists, check the dock contacts for corrosion or debris and press the battery down with light, even pressure until the dock LED switches to charging.
