New arrival
Sale priceFrom $53.99 USD Regular price $67.99
Shipping calculated at checkout.
Fits Symbol MT2000, MT2070, MT2090, and RFD5500 scanners; replaces OEM part 82-108066-1 and KT-BTYMT-01R.
3.7V 2400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 8.88Wh; sustains continuous barcode capture and wireless data transmission during full warehouse shifts.
Slides into battery slot with flat connector contact; locking tab seats flush against the scanner body without force.
Bench testing showed clean BMS handshake on first insertion; cell held voltage stable through 50-cycle scan burst simulation at full trigger load.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack — the scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Symbol MT2000 / MT2070 / MT2090 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (82-108066-1)

This is a 3.7V 2400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Symbol MT2000, MT2070, MT2090, and RFD5500 handheld barcode scanners. It matches OEM part numbers 82-108066-1 and KT-BTYMT-01R. The cell fits the standard battery bay on all four models without modification.

  • MT2000 / MT2070 / MT2090 / RFD5500 fitment: All four models share the same 3.7V battery bay, contact layout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the full group — no firmware or connector differences between them.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on an MT2070 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, voltage hold under combined laser-trigger and wireless polling load stayed stable, and the charging cradle completed the full charge cycle cleanly.
  • First-shift preparation on the MT2000 series: After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using it in pick-and-pack. The scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge. A fully charged pack prevents false BMS trips on the first shift of the day.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

New packs sometimes trigger a charging fault on the MT2000 series cradle, even when the battery is otherwise fine. The most common cause is contact resistance at the battery terminals — factory residue or handling oils raise resistance enough to confuse the cradle's charge controller. Wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the cradle bay with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. If the fault clears, the cradle should resume a normal charge cycle and show a solid amber charge LED.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

During fast-paced pick-and-pack scanning, the MT2070 and MT2090 can drop their wireless connection mid-shift. This happens because simultaneous scan-trigger inrush and 802.11 radio polling create a combined current draw spike that the BMS reads as an over-current event, briefly cutting output. The cell voltage needs to be above 3.6V at rest for the BMS to ride through those spikes without tripping. Keeping the pack topped up in the cradle between shifts is the direct fix — let it reach a full 4.2V before a high-frequency scanning session.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MT2070 scanner stops reading barcodes right after I swap in the new battery — is the battery faulty?

The scanner is not faulty and neither is the battery. The laser or imager module needs a minimum voltage to fire consistently, and a new pack shipped in storage state sits below that threshold. Place the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first use — once the cell reaches 4.2V, the imager gets enough current to read reliably on the first trigger pull.

The MT2090 runs warm after a few hours of continuous scanning — should I be concerned?

Sustained warmth during an extended shift is normal for this housing. The MT2090 encloses both the wireless radio and the scan engine in a compact shell with limited airflow, and combined draw from both raises cell temperature during long bursts. The BMS on this pack will cut output if the cell exceeds its thermal limit, which you will see as a sudden shutdown rather than a gradual slowdown. Rotating between two packs on heavy scanning shifts keeps each cell within a safe temperature range.

My previous Symbol battery lasted a full eight-hour shift — this one seems to fade faster by midday. What causes that?

Shallow cycling is the most likely cause. If the pack is being topped up in the cradle for only short periods — say, during a break rather than a full charge — the cell never reaches a full 4.2V and available capacity drops over time. Li-ion cells in barcode scanners degrade faster from repeated partial cycles than from full ones. Run three consecutive full charge cycles from flat to 4.2V in the cradle, and capacity should stabilise close to the rated 2400mAh.
