Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra MT2070 / MT2090 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (82-108066-1)
This is a 3.7V 2400mAh Li-ion battery for the Zebra MT2000, MT2070, MT2090, and RFD5500 handheld mobile computers. These scanners are used in pick-and-pack, receiving, and retail stock operations where the unit runs through multiple shifts. When the original cell degrades, scan trigger response slows and wireless drops become frequent — this pack restores normal operation.
- MT2000 / MT2070 / MT2090 / RFD5500 fit: All four models share the same 3.7V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The MT2070 and MT2090 are variants of the same platform — the cell communicates state-of-charge to the device over the same data line, so the fuel gauge reads correctly on all four.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through scan-burst and wireless-active load profiles on the MT2070. The BMS held stable across inrush from the laser trigger combined with active 802.11 polling, and the cell did not trip the low-voltage cutoff during simulated high-frequency scan sequences.
- First-shift prep for pick-and-pack use: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and let it complete a full charge cycle before using it on the floor. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged pack prevents false BMS trips during the first shift's high-demand opening period.
Cradle showing charging error on a new pack
The MT2000-series cradle checks contact resistance before initiating the charge cycle. If the gold contacts on the battery base or the cradle pins have oxidation or debris, the cradle flags a fault and stops charging before current flows. Wipe the battery contacts and cradle pins with a dry cloth, then reseat the pack firmly until it clicks. If the error clears, the contact surface was the problem — not the cell or the cradle electronics.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The MT2070 and MT2090 draw current simultaneously from the scan trigger and the 802.11 radio during rapid barcode capture sequences. A degraded or deeply discharged cell cannot sustain that combined inrush, and the voltage sags enough to drop the radio connection. The BMS does not trip — the radio simply loses its minimum operating voltage for a fraction of a second. Charge the replacement pack fully before the shift and the combined draw stays well within the cell's sustained current rating.

Frequently Asked Questions
The scanner reads fine at the start of the shift but starts missing barcodes by mid-shift — is that the battery?
Yes. As the cell discharges, the laser or imager power drops below the threshold needed for reliable reads on damaged or low-contrast labels. The scanner's decode logic still fires, but the illumination is too weak to resolve the barcode cleanly. Charge the pack fully before each shift and the read quality stays consistent across the full discharge curve.
My MT2070 shows a full battery icon but the wireless connection keeps dropping throughout the shift — what's happening?
The fuel gauge on a degraded cell reads high but the cell can no longer deliver the burst current the 802.11 radio needs when it transmits. The icon reflects state-of-charge, not the cell's ability to handle inrush. A replacement pack at 3.7V nominal restores the burst current headroom the radio requires — after fitting the new cell, run a full charge cycle in the cradle before going back on the floor.
The scanner feels warm after a long shift — is that normal or a sign something is wrong?
Some warmth is normal. The MT2000-series housing is compact, and sustained scan-plus-wireless draw generates heat that has nowhere to dissipate quickly. If the pack is hot to the touch rather than warm, the cell is under more stress than it should be — check that the cradle is completing full charge cycles and not cutting off early due to contact faults. A properly charged cell running normal scan duty will stabilise at warm, not hot, by end of shift.
