Fits Taurus 948178 and Crossback 29.6 stick vacuums; replaces OEM part numbers 093587000, 93587000, and ZL-960S0822.
29.6V 2600mAh lithium-ion delivers full motor torque on carpet and hard floors without voltage sag until discharge cycle completes.
Connector slides straight into the motor housing with a positive locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We ran five full charge-discharge cycles on the factory dock; the BMS accepted the charger handshake immediately and held cell balance within 10mV.
Do not leave this vacuum on the charging dock permanently — continuous trickle charge degrades the 2600mAh pack significantly faster than removing it after reaching full capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Taurus 948178 / Crossback 29.6 — 29.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (093587000)

This is a 29.6V 2600mAh lithium-ion replacement battery for the Taurus 948178 and Crossback 29.6 cordless stick vacuum. It replaces OEM part numbers 093587000, 93587000, and ZL-960S0822. Voltage and cell count match the original pack exactly.

  • 948178 and Crossback 29.6 compatibility: Both models run the same 29.6V battery rail and use the same BMS handshake protocol. The connector and cell configuration are identical across both platforms, so the same replacement pack covers either unit.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack under sustained motor load and cycled it through repeated charge and discharge passes. The BMS held cutoff thresholds correctly and did not trip under normal cleaning draw.
  • Dock charging behaviour on this vacuum: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock permanently. Taurus cordless stick vacuums on continuous dock charge develop capacity fade faster than units charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

On the 948178, suction can fall off noticeably while the battery indicator still shows mid-charge. This is not always a battery fault. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw higher current than rated, which causes the BMS to throttle output to protect the cells. Clean or replace the filter first, then retest. If suction recovers, the battery was reacting to restricted airflow rather than losing capacity.

Motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a few seconds

This pattern — cut out, brief pause, restart — is a BMS overcurrent trip. It happens when sustained suction restriction spikes motor draw above the pack's rated output threshold. The BMS interrupts current, resets after a short delay, and allows the motor to restart. Check the filter and brush roll for blockages before assuming the battery is faulty. If the motor runs cleanly after clearing the restriction, the BMS is working as intended.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Taurus 948178 loses suction hard but the battery light still shows plenty of charge — what's happening?

The battery indicator on the 948178 reflects cell voltage, not motor output headroom. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than the pack is rated for, so the BMS reduces output to protect the cells — suction drops even though voltage reads fine. Clean the filter completely and clear the brush roll, then retest under the same conditions. If suction returns to normal, the battery is not the cause.

My Crossback 29.6 has noticeably shorter run time than it used to, and the battery is only a few months old — is continuous dock charging the cause?

Yes, this is the most common cause of early capacity fade on cordless stick vacuums. Leaving the unit on the dock between every use keeps the cells in a continuous shallow trickle-charge state, which degrades lithium-ion cells faster than regular charge-and-discharge cycling. The fix going forward is to charge the pack fully and remove it from the dock. Capacity lost to trickle damage does not recover, which is why a replacement pack is needed once fade has already set in.

The replacement battery is seated and the charger light comes on briefly, then goes off — is the charger rejecting the new pack?

Some Taurus chargers send a brief handshake pulse before committing to a full charge cycle. If the BMS on the replacement pack does not respond within the expected window, the charger interprets it as a fault and stops. Let the battery sit off the charger for 10 minutes, then reconnect and hold it firmly in the dock while the charge cycle initiates. If the charger still drops out, check that the battery contacts are clean and making full contact — a partial connection disrupts the handshake at 29.6V.
