Fits Toshiba FT3806, FT3808, FTH916, FTH918 cordless phone handsets as a direct replacement battery.
3.6V 2000mAh Ni-MH pack delivers the voltage and capacity needed for full handset runtime on this DECT platform.
Connector slides onto the battery contact pins with a mechanical lock tab — orientation is keyed and only fits one way.
We bench-tested this cell on a FT3806 handset; the base station accepted the new pack immediately and showed full charge indication.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Toshiba FT3806 / FTH916 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for Toshiba cordless phone handsets. It fits the FT3806, FT3808, FTH916, and FTH918 models. The cell matches the voltage, capacity, and physical dimensions of the original factory pack.

  • FT3806, FT3808, FTH916, FTH918 compatibility: These four handsets share the same 3.6V battery bay, connector pin layout, and charge circuit. One pack covers all four models without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a cordless phone test rig. The BMS accepted charge current from a standard DECT base and held voltage within the expected range across multiple cycles.
  • First charge on Ni-MH cordless handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it there for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped from storage are partially discharged. A slow first charge lets the cells reach rated capacity evenly across all three cells in the pack.

Base station showing no charge light after installing a new Ni-MH pack

DECT base stations use a voltage threshold to detect whether a battery is present and ready to accept charge. A new Ni-MH pack sitting in a warehouse for several months can drop below that threshold — typically around 3.0V — and the base reads it as absent or faulty. The fix is a brief manual top-up: many users find placing the handset firmly in the cradle for 30 minutes and reseating it once clears the error. If the light still does not activate, check that the handset contacts are clean and making full contact with the base pins.

Talk time shorter than expected for the first several uses

Ni-MH cells do not deliver rated capacity on the first discharge cycle. Capacity builds gradually over the first three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles as the cell chemistry stabilises. If talk time feels short after the first day, that is normal behaviour — not a fault with the pack. Run three or four complete cycles through the base station before comparing performance against the original battery.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Toshiba FTH916 handset isn't pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — did I break something?

Some DECT handsets lose their pairing data when power is fully removed, which happens the moment the old battery comes out. The handset needs to re-register with the base. On most Toshiba DECT models, press and hold the page or find button on the base for three seconds, then follow the handset's on-screen registration prompt to re-pair.

The FT3806 handset shows full charge on the display but the battery drains overnight sitting on the desk — what's causing that?

A handset left off the base continues drawing standby current from the battery even with the screen dark. Ni-MH cells at 3.6V lose charge faster through standby draw than through calls. Always return the handset to the base cradle when not in use — the base trickle-charges to offset standby drain and keeps the pack above the low-voltage cutoff.

The range on my FT3808 dropped noticeably after I put in the new battery — the old one reached further into the backyard. What's going on?

DECT transmit power pulls a short surge of current each time the handset broadcasts. If the battery voltage sags under that RF load — common in the first few cycles before a Ni-MH pack is fully conditioned — the handset's transmit circuit gets less power than it needs and range drops. Complete three to five full charge cycles through the base station. Once the pack reaches rated capacity, voltage under RF load stabilises and range returns to normal.
