This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-Polymer cell built to the LAB544060C specification. It fits the Toshiba Genio E500, E500x, E550, and E570 — early-2000s Pocket PC handhelds used for personal data management. Swap this cell when the original no longer holds a charge or the device shuts down unexpectedly during use.

  • RAM retention before battery removal: Sync all open data to a host PC before pulling the old cell. The Genio E500 keeps active application state and unsaved records in volatile SRAM. That SRAM is powered directly by the main battery — cut power and that data is gone.

Why the Genio E500 loses all contacts and calendar entries after a battery swap

The Genio E500 runs Windows Mobile on top of SRAM — not flash storage. Contacts, calendar entries, and unsaved application data live in RAM while the device is in use. That RAM needs continuous voltage from the battery to retain its contents. When the battery is removed, even briefly, the RAM loses power and wipes everything stored in it. Always perform a full ActiveSync to your PC before the swap, then restore after the new cell is charged and the device boots cleanly.
