Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TP-Link Neffos C5 / TP701A — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NBL-42A2200 / NBL-42A2280)
This is a 3.8V, 1700mAh (6.46Wh) Li-ion battery for the TP-Link Neffos C5, Neffos C5 LTE Dual SIM, and TP701A smartphones. It replaces OEM part numbers NBL-42A2200 and NBL-42A2280. If your original cell no longer holds a charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly, this is a direct cell swap.
- Neffos C5 / TP701A platform fit: The Neffos C5, C5 LTE Dual SIM, and TP701A share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and charge IC communication protocol — all three accept this cell without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Neffos C5 platform. The BMS handshake completed correctly, charge IC accepted the cell without error flags, and voltage held stable at load across display and modem activity.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before the charge IC begins pushing higher current — skipping this step causes erratic percentage readings for several days.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Neffos C5 after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve it mapped from the old, degraded cell. The new cell has a steeper voltage drop under modem and display load than the IC expects at that state-of-charge. When the cell voltage dips below the BMS cutoff threshold — typically around 3.2V under load — the phone shuts off even though the displayed percentage suggests capacity remains. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate recalibrates the coulomb counter to the new cell's actual curve, and the shutdowns stop.
Phone warm near the battery during the first few charges after replacement
A new cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. During the first two to three charge cycles, the charge IC works harder to push current into that higher-resistance cell, generating more heat than usual at the battery contact area. This is a normal break-in effect and not a fault. If warmth persists beyond the third full charge, check that the phone's charge IC has not logged an error — power off, remove the battery for 30 seconds, reinsert, and charge again from below 10%.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Neffos C5 shows 25% battery and just cuts off without warning — is the new cell faulty?
The cell is most likely fine. The fuel gauge IC calibrated its shutdown threshold to your old degraded cell, and the new cell hits the BMS voltage cutoff — around 3.2V under modem load — before the displayed percentage reaches zero. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% at standard charge speed with fast charging disabled. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter remaps to the new cell curve and the premature cutoffs stop.
USB fast charging stopped working after I installed the replacement battery — the phone only slow-charges now.
This is a first-cycle BMS behaviour. The charge IC runs a compatibility handshake with the new cell's BMS on the first connection, and some units default to trickle or standard charge rate until that handshake completes cleanly. Disconnect the cable, power the phone off fully, reconnect the charger, and power back on — this resets the charge negotiation. If fast charge still does not activate, complete one full standard-rate charge cycle first; the IC typically accepts the fast-charge protocol from the second cycle onward.
The battery percentage on my Neffos C5 jumps around erratically — it reads 60%, drops to 40%, then climbs back — what's causing this?
The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve and has not yet built an accurate internal model of the replacement cell's voltage-to-capacity relationship. Until it completes that mapping, percentage readings drift noticeably. Let the phone discharge to automatic shutdown twice and charge fully to 100% each time without interruption. After two complete cycles, the IC stabilises and percentage reporting becomes consistent.
