Fits Uniden DX-AI5188, EXAI-5160, EXAI-5180, TRU-3455 cordless handsets; replaces OEM part YBT3N600MAH.
3.6V Ni-MH at 1200mAh delivers the voltage and capacity this DECT base requires to maintain handset transmit power and range during active calls.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with the contacts facing the terminal spring; no locking tab — gravity holds it seated.
We bench-tested this cell on a DX-AI5188 base charger; BMS accepted voltage at first insertion and delivered steady trickle charge through a full cycle without fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries need a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Uniden DX-AI5188 / EXAI-5160 / TRU-3455 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (YBT3N600MAH)

This is a 3.6V 1200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Uniden cordless handsets using part number YBT3N600MAH. It fits the DX-AI5188, EXAI-5160, EXAI-5180, TRU-3455, and four additional models in this family. The physical dimensions are 54.46 × 32.07 × 11.22mm — verify these against your existing pack before ordering.

  • DX-AI5188 and EXAI series compatibility: These models share the same 3.6V three-cell Ni-MH pack format and connector orientation. The handset charging circuit targets the same voltage threshold across the whole family, so one battery spec covers all listed models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a DECT handset platform at 3.6V nominal. The BMS accepted charge correctly from a standard base station cradle, and the cell voltage settled at 4.3V at full charge without overrun.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH cordless packs: After installing this battery, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in partial-discharge state need this slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping it will make the first few cycles feel short.

Base station charging error light after installing a new Ni-MH pack

Uniden base stations use a voltage-sense circuit to confirm a battery is present before starting the charge cycle. A new Ni-MH pack stored for several months can sit below 3.0V — low enough that the base rejects it and flags an error. The fix is a short pre-charge: use a standalone Ni-MH charger at low current (around 50–100mA) to bring the pack above 3.2V, then reseat it in the base. Once the base detects a voltage in its acceptance window, the error light clears and normal charging resumes.

Range drops mid-call after a battery swap

Reduced range after fitting a new battery is usually a voltage-sag problem, not a pairing problem. DECT handsets maintain transmit power from the battery rail — when a partially conditioned Ni-MH pack sags under RF load, the transmitter pulls back and effective range shrinks. This clears after three to five full charge and discharge cycles, as the cells reach their rated 1200mAh capacity. If range is still short after five cycles, check that the handset is fully seated in the base between calls so the pack tops up to 4.3V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Uniden handset talk time seems much shorter than it should be after fitting the new battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the battery. Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full cycles before they reach rated capacity. Each time you run the handset until the low-battery warning, then seat it in the base for a full charge, the cells condition further. By cycle five, capacity should be close to the rated 1200mAh and talk time will reflect that.

The base station won't start charging — the charge light stays red or shows an error after I installed the new pack.

This happens when the pack voltage drops below the base station's acceptance threshold during storage — typically anything under 3.0V. Use a standalone Ni-MH charger at 50–100mA to bring the pack up above 3.2V, then reseat it in the cradle. The base will detect the recovered voltage and begin its normal charge cycle.

My Uniden handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some DECT phones drop their pairing data when power is fully removed from the handset. Re-register the handset manually: hold the handset's FIND or PAGE button and the base's REGISTER button simultaneously until the handset display confirms pairing — the exact button labels vary by model, so check the DX-AI5188 or TRU-3455 user guide for the specific sequence. Once paired, the handset should connect within about 30 seconds.
