Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Uniden UH810 / UH820S Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP820)
This is a 3.7V 1500mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Uniden UH810, UH810S, and UH820S handheld two-way radios. It replaces OEM part numbers BP820 and BP-820. The pack slots directly into the existing battery compartment and connects to the radio's onboard charging and protection circuit.
- UH810, UH810S, and UH820S compatibility: All three models share the same 3.7V single-cell Li-ion platform, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol — one pack fits all three without any adaptor or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and transmit-load discharge on the UH810 platform. The BMS held stable under PTT transmit current spikes and tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold without latching into lockout.
- First insertion on the UH810 dock: If the dock LED flashes fault on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The UH810 charger requires a clean contact cycle to register the new BMS before it starts the charge sequence.
UH810 cutting out mid-transmission on a fresh BP820
A new Li-ion cell ships at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.8V — not at full charge. When the UH810 draws transmit current from a cell at storage voltage, the internal voltage sags further under load. If it dips below the radio's transmit-enable threshold, the radio cuts TX mid-press. This is not a fault in the pack. Run one full charge cycle before first use and the transmit voltage headroom is restored.
Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after a full charge
The UH810 uses a simple voltage-threshold bar indicator — it reads resting cell voltage and maps it to bars. A new cell can read slightly lower resting voltage than a broken-in cell at the same state of charge, because cell impedance is higher before the first few cycles. After two or three full charge-discharge cycles, resting voltage stabilises and the bar display will align with actual charge level. If the indicator still reads low after three cycles, check that the dock contacts are clean and that the pack is reaching a full 4.2V terminal voltage at charge completion.

Frequently Asked Questions
My UH810 drops from full TX power to a weaker signal partway through a long conversation — is the new BP820 faulty?
This is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not a defective pack. During extended transmit, the cell voltage dips under continuous load; if it crosses the radio's reduced-power threshold, the UH810 steps down TX output to protect the circuit. Ensure the pack completed a full charge before use and that the dock contacts are clean. If the drop still occurs, measure the terminal voltage immediately after a full charge — it should read 4.1–4.2V.
The UH810 charger dock blinks a fault LED and never moves to a steady charge light after I insert the BP820 — what's wrong?
The dock is rejecting the pack because the cell voltage is below the dock's acceptance threshold, which is common with a battery that has been in storage. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, reseat it firmly, and try again — a poor contact can also trigger the same fault LED. If the dock still rejects it, the cell may need a recovery boost; try a compatible external Li-ion charger set to 3.7V single-cell to bring the voltage above 3.5V, then return the pack to the dock.
The BP820 was stored unused for a few months and now the UH810 won't power on at all — is the battery dead?
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage and can drop below the BMS's minimum recovery voltage, which causes the BMS to lock out output entirely. This is not permanent. Connect the pack to the UH810 dock or a compatible Li-ion charger and leave it for 30–60 minutes — most BMS circuits will re-initialise once the cell climbs back above 3.0V. If the dock shows no activity at all, use an external charger with a recovery or "wake" mode to bring the cell voltage to at least 3.2V first.
