Fits cordless DECT phones using four AA rechargeable cells with universal housing.
4.8V, 2000mAh capacity delivers full power to handsets on standard cordless phone base stations.
Four AA cells snap into existing battery holder; no connector swap needed.
We bench-tested on a five-year-old base station — NiMH pack accepted charge immediately, BMS showed normal taper curve.
After installation, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless batteries require slow first charging to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Universel AA x 4 Cordless Phone — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH battery pack built for cordless phones that take four AA-sized rechargeable cells in a single pack. It fits handsets requiring a standard AA x 4 configuration at 4.8V. The pack measures 57.80 x 52.00 x 14.60mm — check your existing pack dimensions before ordering.

  • AA x 4 cordless handset fit: Cordless phones using four AA cells share a common 4.8V nominal rail and physical slot size. This pack covers that configuration where the base station charges through the handset contacts at a trickle rate matched to Ni-MH chemistry.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through a full charge-discharge sequence on a 4.8V Ni-MH trickle charger. Capacity climbed incrementally across the first three cycles, which is normal Ni-MH behaviour — the cells reach rated 2000mAh by cycle four or five, not cycle one.
  • First charge on a DECT handset: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before the first call. Ni-MH cells shipped in partial discharge need a slow initial charge to reach full capacity — a quick top-up is not enough on the first cycle.

Base station showing no charge or error light after fitting a new Ni-MH pack

Ni-MH cells lose voltage in storage. If a pack sits in a warehouse long enough, resting voltage can drop below the threshold the base station checks before it begins charging. Many DECT bases will show a fault light or simply not initiate a charge cycle when they see voltage below roughly 4.0V on a 4.8V pack. The fix is to prime the pack with a brief external charge using a standalone AA Ni-MH charger until voltage climbs above 4.2V, then reseat it in the handset. Once the base detects a valid voltage, the charge indicator should activate within two minutes.

Handset loses pairing with the base after battery replacement

Removing the battery from a DECT handset cuts power to volatile memory, and some older DECT implementations store pairing data in RAM rather than flash. When that happens, the handset comes back up with no base registered. Check your handset manual for the registration or pairing sequence — on most DECT phones this means holding the base page button for five seconds while pressing the handset menu button. Re-registration takes under 60 seconds and restores full function without a factory reset.

Frequently Asked Questions

My cordless phone talk time is much shorter than before — is the new battery faulty?

Ni-MH cells ship partially discharged and take three to five full charge-discharge cycles to reach rated capacity. On the first cycle, you may see noticeably shorter talk time — this is the chemistry, not a defect. Run the handset until the low-battery indicator appears, then return it to the base for a full charge each time. By cycle four or five, talk time should reach the level the 2000mAh rating reflects.

The handset battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what's wrong?

This is almost always a seating issue, not a battery fault. DECT bases charge through spring contacts on the handset cradle, and if the handset is even slightly off-centre, the contacts don't connect. Remove the handset, inspect the charging contacts on both the base and handset for dust or oxidation, wipe them with a dry cloth, then reseat the handset firmly until it clicks or sits flush. If the charge indicator light activates after reseating, the contacts were the cause.

The phone's range dropped noticeably after I swapped the battery — why?

A DECT handset's RF transmit circuit draws a short high-current burst every time it communicates with the base. If the Ni-MH pack hasn't been fully conditioned yet, its internal resistance is higher than a run-in pack, and voltage sags briefly under that RF load. The base interprets the weaker signal as distance and may reduce link quality or drop the call. Put the handset through three full charge-discharge cycles first — once internal resistance drops, the voltage holds steadier under transmit load and range returns to normal.
