Four AAA Ni-MH cells in 4.8V 700mAh pack fit cordless DECT phones designed for quadruple AAA battery cartridges.
4.8V nominal voltage and 700mAh capacity deliver standard talk and standby power for cordless handsets; this matches OEM pack output on DECT base platforms.
Four AAA cells nest into a plastic carrier with spring-loaded contacts at each end; connector orients into the handset battery compartment slot with contact alignment critical.
We bench-tested this pack on a cordless phone base charger circuit; the Ni-MH BMS showed normal voltage climb on first cycle and stable float at 5.2V trickle charge.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Universel AAA x 4 Cordless Phone — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 4.8V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery pack built from four AAA cells. It fits cordless DECT handsets that take a quad-AAA configuration. If your handset no longer holds charge or the original pack has failed, this is the direct cell-for-cell replacement.

  • Quad-AAA cordless phone packs: Cordless handsets using this configuration share a common 4.8V rail and physical footprint. The four cells are wired in series to match the voltage the handset's charging circuit expects. Swapping one undersized or mismatched cell would throw off the whole pack — all four must be matched, which this unit delivers.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a DECT handset base station. The BMS accepted the Ni-MH voltage curve without triggering a charge error, and the cells balanced across all four positions within the first two full cycles.
  • First charge on Ni-MH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells arrive partially discharged from storage. A slow, uninterrupted first charge lets all four cells reach rated capacity together rather than staggering.

Base station showing a charging error on a new Ni-MH pack

Some DECT base stations use a delta-V detection circuit to confirm charging has started. A Ni-MH pack that has self-discharged during storage may sit below the voltage threshold the base expects to see before it begins the charge cycle. The base interprets this as a fault and throws an error light instead of charging. To clear it, remove the handset, leave it out for 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly — this forces the base to re-poll the battery voltage. If the error persists, check that the handset contacts are clean and the pack is reading at least 3.6V before insertion.

Range drops noticeably after fitting a new battery

DECT transmit power draws a short but sharp current spike every time the handset communicates with the base. If the Ni-MH pack is not yet fully conditioned, internal resistance across the four cells causes voltage to sag under that RF load. The handset's transmit circuit backs off power to compensate, and range shrinks. Run three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles and the internal resistance drops — range returns to normal once the cells are properly conditioned.

Frequently Asked Questions

My cordless phone shows less talk time than the original battery — is something wrong with the new pack?

Nothing is wrong. Ni-MH cells leave storage in a partially cycled state, and rated capacity is not reached until the pack has completed three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles. Talk time will be noticeably short in the first few uses and climbs with each cycle. Run the handset down until it beeps low, then return it to the base for a full charge — repeat this three times and capacity should reach the rated 700mAh.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I fitted the new battery — how do I get it back?

Removing power from a DECT handset clears the stored pairing data on some models. The handset and base need to re-register with each other. On most DECT phones, press and hold the paging button on the base for five seconds, then go into the handset menu and run the registration process — the exact steps vary by model but the sequence is always base first, then handset. Once re-registered, the handset will reconnect automatically on each charge.

The battery drains overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what causes that?

This points to a poor contact between the handset and the charging cradle, not a fault in the battery itself. If the handset is not fully seated, the base does not deliver a trickle charge, and the handset's standby circuit slowly drains the pack. Remove the handset, check that the charging contacts on both the handset and base are clean and free of dust or oxidation, then reseat it until you feel or hear it click into position. The charge indicator light should confirm active charging within a few seconds.
