Fits VeriFone Nurit 3020, Nurit 8320, Nurit 8320U, Nurit 3020U — replaces OEM BAT0017-B and 70AAAH6BMXZ.
7.2V Ni-MH at 700mAh delivers 5.04Wh to sustain transaction processing during retail shifts without mid-payment shutdowns.
Connector slides vertically into the battery slot with a single locking tab — orientation is keyed, no force required.
We bench-tested this cell in a Nurit 3020 under repeated transaction cycles — the BMS accepted full charge within two hours, no fault codes.
After installation, complete one full transaction cycle before deploying in a live environment — the terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and requires at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

VeriFone Nurit 3020 / 8320 Series — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BAT0017-B)

This is a 7.2V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the VeriFone Nurit 3020, Nurit 3020U, Nurit 8320, and Nurit 8320U payment terminals. It replaces OEM part numbers BAT0017-B and 70AAAH6BMXZ. These terminals use this battery during mobile and countertop payment operations when mains power is unavailable.

  • Nurit 3020 and 8320 platform fit: Both the 3020 and 8320 families share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and charge management circuit. One replacement covers all four model variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Nurit charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the handshake correctly. The terminal completed its PCI boot sequence and charge indicator updated as expected after a full charge-discharge cycle.
  • First-deployment cycle: After fitting the new battery, run at least one complete transaction cycle — including a receipt print — before putting the terminal into live service. The Nurit maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs one full power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator accurately.

Terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap

The Nurit's receipt printer draws a sharp current spike the moment it fires the paper feed motor. On a new Ni-MH cell that has not yet been conditioned, this spike can briefly dip voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold, triggering a hard reboot. This is not a faulty battery — it is the cell's internal resistance behaving normally before the first few charge cycles reduce it. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles and the voltage sag on printer motor start will fall within the BMS's acceptable window.

Terminal won't power on after sitting unused in storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day at room temperature. A terminal left in a drawer for several months can drop the cell below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 5.4V for a 7.2V pack — at which point the terminal will not respond to the power button at all. Connect the terminal to its mains charger and leave it for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to power on. If the charge LED shows activity, the BMS has recovered; allow a full charge cycle before use.

Frequently Asked Questions

The charge indicator on my Nurit has been stuck at 99% for the past hour — is the battery defective?

This is normal behaviour on a new Ni-MH cell. The Nurit's charge IC enters a top-off trickle mode when it detects a fresh cell, holding the indicator near full while it slowly brings the pack to true capacity. It is not a fault in the battery or the terminal. Leave the terminal on charge for a full uninterrupted cycle and the indicator will settle at 100% and track normally from that point.

My Nurit 8320 powers on but freezes and restarts before finishing the PCI boot sequence — could the battery be causing this?

Yes. The PCI boot sequence on the Nurit 8320 runs a self-test that draws more current than standby operation. If the BMS has not yet completed its initial handshake with the charge circuit, it can cut power partway through that sequence. Connect the terminal to mains power, allow one full charge cycle, then power it on again. After that initial cycle the BMS handshake is established and the boot sequence completes without interruption.

The terminal gets noticeably warm during a busy period with lots of back-to-back transactions — is that the battery overheating?

During heavy use the Nurit is simultaneously driving the display backlight, the wireless modem, and the receipt printer. That combined draw generates heat across the battery, the charge circuit, and the printer motor — all in a compact enclosure. Ni-MH chemistry runs warmer than Li-ion under sustained load, so moderate warmth is expected. If the terminal becomes too hot to hold comfortably, pause transactions for two to three minutes and let it idle; the thermal load drops quickly once the printer motor stops cycling.
