Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dassault 730 / 770 / Arthema / ELITE 730 — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 7.2V, 1800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Dassault 730, 770, Arthema, and ELITE 730 payment terminals, along with seven additional compatible models in the same family. It slots into portable POS terminals used in retail and hospitality where wireless payment processing runs off internal battery power. Capacity figure is 12.96Wh.

  • 730 / 770 / Arthema / ELITE 730 family: These terminals share the same 7.2V battery architecture, connector pinout, and charge management circuit. One replacement cell covers the full range without hardware modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Dassault charge IC and confirmed the BMS handshake completes correctly. The protection circuit triggers as expected on overcurrent and low-voltage cutoff conditions.
  • First transaction cycle after installation: After fitting the battery, run at least one complete transaction — including a receipt print — before deploying in a live environment. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs one full power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator accurately.

Terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap

The receipt printer motor draws a sharp current spike at the moment it fires — often 1.5–2x the steady-state load the terminal pulls during idle or card-read. On a new cell that hasn't completed a full charge cycle, the BMS can read this spike as an overcurrent event and trip. This is not a faulty battery. Run the terminal through a full charge, then complete one print cycle. After that, the BMS learns the load profile and stops tripping on normal printer draws.

Terminal not powering on after sitting unused in a drawer

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–3% per day without a load. A terminal left unused for several weeks can drop the cell below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 5.4V for a 7.2V pack — at which point the protection circuit blocks charge input entirely. Place the terminal on its dock and hold the power button for 10–15 seconds. Some Dassault models use a trickle pre-charge routine to bring the cell back above threshold before enabling normal charge current. If the dock light remains unresponsive after 30 minutes, check dock voltage at the contacts — it should read between 8.4V and 9V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Dassault terminal reboots every time it prints a receipt — is that the battery?

Yes, the printer motor pulls a sharp current spike when it fires, and a new or partially charged Ni-MH cell can cause the BMS to trip on that spike and cut power. This is not a defective battery. Charge the terminal fully, then run several complete transaction-and-print cycles so the BMS learns the normal load pattern. After two or three full cycles, the mid-print reboots stop.

The battery indicator on my Dassault 730 is stuck at 99% even after charging overnight — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. The charge IC on these terminals enters a top-off mode when it detects a new or recently depleted Ni-MH cell, deliberately slowing the final charge phase to avoid overcharging. The indicator stays near 99% during this period, which can last several hours. Let the terminal sit on the dock for a full charge cycle, then run one complete transaction. The gauge will recalibrate and read correctly after that cycle.

The terminal feels noticeably warm during a busy shift — is the battery overheating?

During heavy transaction periods, the display, wireless radio, and printer motor all draw simultaneously, and that combined load generates heat in both the cell and the charge circuitry. Ni-MH cells run warmer than lithium under sustained load — warm to the touch is normal. If the terminal is hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, move it to a cooler surface and reduce simultaneous functions where possible. Check that the battery contacts are clean and making full contact, as a poor connection increases resistance and adds heat at the joint.
