This is a 7.2V, 4500mAh Ni-MH replacement cell for Vesta hybrid power plant alarm panels. It fits the VESTA-111-NIMH, VESTA-112-NIMH, and VESTA-113-NIMH control units. The battery provides backup power to the panel and connected sensors when mains power is lost.

  • VESTA-111 / 112 / 113-NIMH compatibility: All three panels run the same 7.2V backup rail and use the same connector and BMS handshake. A single cell covers the full model range without any wiring or firmware changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle on a VESTA-112-NIMH panel. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, completed float charging within 36 hours, and reported healthy status on the panel display.
  • Post-installation charge window: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after fitting this cell. Allow 24 to 48 hours on float charge first. Running a diagnostic test on an uncharged replacement cell will trigger a false low-battery report from the panel.

Vesta hybrid panels read backup battery status through the BMS, not a direct voltage meter. A freshly installed Ni-MH cell sits below the BMS acceptance threshold until it completes its first full float charge cycle. The panel interprets this as a fault and flags low battery even on a brand-new cell. Leave the panel powered on mains for 24 to 48 hours without triggering any tests — the fault will clear once the cell reaches approximately 8.64V at full charge.

Alarm losing stored programming during a power outage after battery swap

If the panel drops its zone configuration or user codes during a mains outage shortly after a battery replacement, the new cell had not yet been accepted by the BMS. Until the first float charge cycle completes, the panel treats the battery as unavailable and draws no backup current from it. When mains drops, the panel loses power entirely and resets to factory state. Fit the replacement cell, restore mains power, and allow a full 48-hour conditioning period before testing or switching off the mains supply.

My Vesta panel still shows a low battery warning a full day after I put in the new VESTA-214 — is the cell faulty?

Not necessarily. Vesta hybrid panels require the Ni-MH cell to complete a full float charge cycle before the BMS clears the low-battery flag. This typically takes 24 to 48 hours from a fully discharged state. Keep the panel on mains power without running any tests and check the display again after 48 hours. If the warning persists beyond 48 hours, measure the cell voltage directly — a fully charged VESTA-214 should read approximately 8.64V.

The siren didn't sound when I ran a test immediately after replacing the backup battery — what's wrong?

Vesta panels apply a short delay before activating the siren on a freshly installed backup cell. The panel waits for a brief charge stabilisation window after a new cell is detected, and a test triggered inside that window may not produce a siren output. This is normal behaviour, not a wiring fault. Wait at least one hour after fitting the cell, or ideally complete the 24 to 48-hour float charge, then rerun the siren test.

My Vesta panel is throwing a tamper fault right after I swapped the backup battery — I haven't touched the sensors.

A tamper fault appearing immediately after a battery swap almost always means the panel enclosure lid or battery compartment cover is not fully seated. Vesta panels monitor the cover tamper switch continuously, and even slight misalignment triggers the fault. Open the enclosure, check that the battery leads are routed clear of the cover edge, reseat the lid firmly until the tamper switch clicks into contact, and confirm the fault clears on the panel display.
