This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion cell built to fit the VIDEOCON V1612 smartphone. It slots into the same battery bay as the original and connects via the same contact points. Capacity is rated at 4.07Wh — matching the stock specification for this handset.

  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the V1612 platform. The BMS accepted charge current without tripping, and the handset recognised the battery without throwing a low-voltage warning on boot.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell — preventing erratic percentage readings early on.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the V1612 after a cell swap

A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve compared to the aged cell the fuel gauge IC was last calibrated against. When the modem fires during a call or the screen hits full brightness, current draw spikes. If the fuel gauge still thinks 25% charge remains but the actual cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold under that load, the phone shuts off instantly. One full discharge-to-charge cycle resets the coulomb counter and resolves this.

Phone not powering on after the battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell drops below roughly 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters lockout mode and blocks charge current as a safety measure. The V1612 will show nothing on screen when connected to a charger. Connect to a wall adapter — not a USB hub — and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on. The BMS needs a trickle current period to recover from deep-discharge lockout before the phone will boot.

Why is my VIDEOCON V1612 showing the wrong battery percentage after I put in the new battery?

The fuel gauge IC on the V1612 motherboard stores a discharge curve calibrated to the old cell. With a new cell installed, the stored curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour, so the percentage reading drifts or jumps. Run one full discharge — use the phone until it shuts off automatically — then charge to 100% without interruption. That single cycle resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual curve.

The V1612 feels warm near the battery during the first few charges — is that a fault?

Not a fault. A brand-new cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, which means the charge IC dissipates slightly more heat during the first few cycles as it pushes current into a cell that hasn't settled yet. Impedance drops after two or three full cycles and the warmth goes with it. If the phone still runs hot after five cycles, check that the back cover is seated fully — a gap affects heat dissipation from the battery bay.

My V1612 won't charge at all after swapping the battery — the charging indicator never appears.

This usually means the replacement cell arrived below 2.5V from storage, triggering BMS lockout. The BMS blocks charge current entirely at that threshold to prevent cell damage. Plug into a wall adapter rated at least 1A — skip USB ports on computers or hubs — and leave it connected for 20 to 30 minutes without touching the power button. Once trickle current brings the cell above the BMS recovery threshold, normal charging resumes and the indicator will appear.
