Fits Vileda model 137173 cordless vacuum; replaces OEM battery pack for this handheld unit.
14.4V Ni-MH chemistry at 4000mAh delivers stable voltage output across the cleaning cycle on this lightweight stick vacuum.
Connector slides into the dock charging port with positive terminals aligned; locking tab seats flush against the battery housing.
We tested this cell across multiple charge cycles — BMS handled the Ni-MH discharge curve without early cutoff or voltage sag.
Do not leave this vacuum on the charging dock permanently between uses; continuous trickle charge degrades Ni-MH capacity faster than charge-and-remove cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vileda 137173 Cleaning Robot — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V, 4000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Vileda 137173 and 137173 Cleaning Robot cordless vacuum. It fits directly into the original battery slot and restores power to units where the factory cell has degraded from repeated charge cycles. No OEM part number exists for this cell — fitment is confirmed by voltage, form factor, and connector type.

  • Vileda 137173 and 137173 Cleaning Robot fit: Both models run the same 14.4V power rail, use the same connector housing, and draw current through the same motor driver circuit — a single cell spec covers both units without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and load discharge on the 137173 motor assembly. The BMS handled motor-start inrush without tripping, and voltage held stable across sustained suction load until the cell reached cutoff.
  • Dock charging on the 137173: Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock once the battery is full. Continuous trickle charge from the dock degrades Ni-MH cells faster than cycling. Charge to full, remove the unit from the dock, and return it only when the battery is depleted.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

Ni-MH cells lose voltage under load before they lose total capacity — the indicator reads remaining charge at rest, not under motor draw. When the filter is partially blocked, the motor pulls more current to maintain suction, which accelerates voltage sag. The battery can appear at mid-charge while the motor is already struggling to maintain its rated speed. Clean the filter first, then check whether suction recovers — a blocked filter is the most common cause of early power fade on this unit.

Motor cuts out mid-use and then restarts after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When airflow is restricted — blocked filter, clogged inlet, or hair wrapped around the brush — the motor draws sustained current above the BMS threshold, and the circuit opens to protect the cell. After a brief pause the BMS resets and the motor restarts. The fix is not a new battery. Clear the restriction, check the filter, and verify the brush roll spins freely before drawing any conclusions about cell condition.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Vileda 137173 loses suction halfway through a session even though the battery indicator still shows charge — is the new battery faulty?

The battery is likely fine. Ni-MH cells sag under motor load before the resting voltage drops enough to trigger the low indicator — so the gauge looks fine while the motor is already starved of voltage. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw above its rated current, which accelerates that sag. Clean the filter completely, run a full charge cycle, and check whether suction holds across the session.

The vacuum cuts out after a minute or two on carpet, pauses, then starts again on its own — what's causing that?

That cycling behaviour is a BMS overcurrent trip resetting itself. Thick carpet restricts airflow, which makes the motor work harder and pull sustained current above the BMS cutoff threshold. The circuit opens, the motor stops, and once current draw drops the BMS resets. Check the filter and brush roll for blockage first — if airflow is clear and the cutout still happens, bench-check the cell voltage under load, which should stay above 12V during normal operation.

The battery on my 137173 ran well for the first few weeks but capacity has dropped noticeably — I charge it every night on the dock. Is this normal?

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade in Ni-MH vacuum batteries. The dock delivers a trickle charge that keeps the cell at or near full voltage indefinitely, which stresses Ni-MH chemistry and accelerates cell degradation faster than regular cycling would. Charge the battery to full, remove the vacuum from the dock, and only return it when the battery is genuinely depleted. Run two or three full drain-and-charge cycles to help recondition the cell.
