Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

V.I.O. Stream — 3.7V Li-ion 1800mAh Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V Li-ion battery rated at 1800mAh (6.66Wh) for the V.I.O. Stream action camera. It slots directly into the Stream's battery compartment and powers the camera's video recording and photo capture functions. No OEM part number is published for this cell.

  • V.I.O. Stream platform fit: The Stream runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture. This replacement matches that voltage rail and physical footprint — 53.00 × 35.30 × 11.00mm — so the battery seats correctly and the camera's power circuit sees the expected nominal input.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench, monitoring BMS cutoff at the low-voltage threshold and confirming the protection circuit tripped correctly before cell voltage dropped below safe limits. Charge acceptance from empty was clean with no interruptions.
  • First-install charge cycle: On first use, run one full charge cycle inside the camera body or OEM charger before shooting. Some action camera BMS systems need that initial in-camera charge pass to calibrate the battery-remaining indicator — skipping it can cause the display to read inaccurately from the start.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the Stream's display

The Stream's fuel gauge maps voltage to a percentage curve tuned to the original cell's discharge profile. A replacement cell with a slightly different discharge curve hits voltage thresholds at different points, so the indicator can jump — say, from 60% to 30% in one step. This is a display calibration issue, not a fault with the cell. Running two or three full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body allows the BMS to build a more accurate map of the new cell's curve. After those cycles, percentage readouts typically stabilise.

Stream showing no battery or refusing to power on with a new cell installed

If the camera shows a dead-battery icon or simply won't turn on with a freshly installed replacement, the cell may have arrived at a low resting voltage after storage — common with Li-ion shipped in a partial-charge state. Place the battery in the OEM charger or connect the camera to USB power and let it charge for at least 15 minutes before attempting to power on. If the camera body is the charger, hold the charge connection until the indicator light changes state. The BMS will engage once the cell recovers above approximately 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My V.I.O. Stream won't turn on after I put in the new battery — is the cell dead?

Probably not. Li-ion cells ship in a partial-charge state and can arrive below the voltage the camera's BMS needs to initialise — typically around 3.0V. Connect the camera to its charger or a USB power source and leave it for 15–20 minutes before pressing the power button. The BMS will wake the cell once it crosses that threshold.

The battery percentage on my Stream drops from 80% to 10% in a few seconds — what's wrong?

The Stream's fuel gauge is calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell. A replacement cell hits voltage thresholds at slightly different points, so the indicator can jump sharply rather than stepping down smoothly. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles entirely inside the camera body. The BMS rebuilds its voltage-to-percentage map with each cycle, and the readout steadies after that.

My V.I.O. Stream gets noticeably warm during sustained video recording — is that a battery issue?

Not specifically. Under continuous video, the Stream draws current simultaneously for the image sensor, processor, and write buffer — combined load well above what still shooting demands. That draw heats both the camera body and the cell. If the camera cuts out without warning rather than just feeling warm, check that the battery terminal contacts are clean and fully seated, as a high-resistance connection causes disproportionate heat at the cell. Clean contacts with a dry cloth and reseat the battery firmly.
