Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Virgin Mobile Overdrive Pro 3G / 4G — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V 1500mAh Li-ion battery fits the Virgin Mobile Overdrive Pro 3G and Overdrive Pro 4G mobile hotspots. Both devices share the same battery bay dimensions and voltage requirements. Capacity is 1500mAh (5.55Wh) as specified in the product data.
- Overdrive Pro 3G and 4G compatibility: Both models use the same battery form factor, connector pinout, and 3.7V nominal voltage rail. The BMS communication protocol is identical across both generations, so one battery covers both units without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery under a simulated load combining cellular modem draw and active WiFi transmission. The BMS held cutoff thresholds correctly and did not trigger false low-voltage shutdowns during peak combined radio activity.
- Ventilation during extended hotspot sessions: When the Overdrive Pro is broadcasting at maximum output — especially with multiple connected devices in a low-signal area — the cellular radio runs at full transmit power. Keep the hotspot flat on a hard surface with airflow around it, not tucked in a bag or pocket. Heat buildup at the battery shortens cycle life faster than normal discharge does.
Overdrive Pro dropping connected devices mid-session after battery swap
A new battery can still cause mid-session disconnects if the cell voltage sags under combined modem and WiFi load. The Overdrive Pro pulls from both the cellular modem and the WiFi radio simultaneously, and peak draw spikes when multiple clients are active at once. If the BMS sees voltage dip below its protection threshold during that spike, it cuts output briefly — which users see as a dropped connection. Let the battery complete two or three full charge cycles before assuming a fault; cell impedance drops as the battery conditions.
Overdrive Pro not powering on after sitting unused for weeks
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and the Overdrive Pro's standby current draw accelerates that process even when powered off. If the cell drops below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters deep-discharge lockout and the device will not boot. Connect the hotspot to a wall charger — not a USB power bank — and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. A working battery will recover and begin showing charge indicator activity within that window.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Overdrive Pro keeps kicking devices off the WiFi mid-session — is this a battery problem?
It can be. When multiple clients are connected and the cellular signal is weak, the combined modem and WiFi radio draw spikes sharply, and a degraded or newly fitted battery may sag in voltage just enough for the BMS to cut output for a fraction of a second — enough to drop all connected clients. We saw this on the bench when simulating four active connections in a low-signal condition. Run the battery through two full charge-discharge cycles before ruling it out. If dropout stops after conditioning, the cell impedance was the cause.
The Overdrive Pro battery drains much faster than it used to — even with fewer devices connected.
Poor cellular signal is the most common cause that gets overlooked. When the hotspot is far from a tower, the modem runs at maximum transmit power continuously, which pulls significantly harder on the 1500mAh cell than normal conditions would. Check signal bars — if you're sitting at one or two bars, move the hotspot to a window or elevated position. A stronger signal drops radio draw immediately and you'll see the difference in how long the battery lasts between charges.
The Overdrive Pro won't turn on at all after I left it in a drawer for a month — new battery just arrived and same problem.
If the original battery was still installed during storage, it likely dragged the device's internal voltage below the BMS boot threshold before you swapped it. The new battery is fine, but the device may not respond immediately. Plug the hotspot into a wall charger and leave it connected for 30 to 45 minutes without pressing the power button. Once the cell reaches approximately 3.0V, the BMS re-initialises and the device will boot normally on the next power press.
