Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vocollect Talkman A700 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT-901)
This is a 3.7V Li-ion battery rated at 2500mAh (9.25Wh), built to replace the OEM BT-901 pack. It fits the Vocollect Talkman A700, A710, A720, and A730 voice-directed picking terminals used in warehouse and distribution environments. The cell and protection circuit match the original pack dimensions and connector pinout.
- Talkman A700 series compatibility: The A700, A710, A720, and A730 all run on the same 3.7V rail and use the same BT-901 form factor. The BMS handshake protocol and connector locking tab are shared across the series, so one replacement pack covers the full lineup.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a Talkman A700 unit through repeated scan-and-transmit bursts. The BMS held stable under combined radio polling and scan trigger inrush without tripping into protective cutoff.
- First-shift prep for voice-picking terminals: After installing a new pack, seat the terminal in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before the shift starts. The scan trigger draws its highest inrush current when the cell is near minimum, and a fully charged cell prevents a false BMS trip during the first pick sequence of the day.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new BT-901 pack
A new pack can trigger a charging error on the Talkman dock when contact resistance at the battery terminals is too high for the dock to initiate a charge handshake. This happens when the gold-plated contacts on the battery or cradle have oxidation or shipping residue on them. Wipe the battery contacts and the cradle contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the pack firmly until it clicks. The dock should clear the error and begin charging within 30 seconds.
Scanner losing wireless connection during a rapid scan burst
During a fast scan sequence, the terminal draws current simultaneously from the scan trigger and the wireless radio transmitting each scan result. This combined inrush can cause a brief voltage sag that drops below the radio module's minimum operating threshold, dropping the connection. The BT-901's protection circuit is rated to handle this dual-load spike, but the effect is most pronounced when the cell is below 3.5V. Keep the pack above that threshold — dock the terminal when the battery indicator shows one bar rather than waiting for a low-battery shutdown.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Talkman A700 won't read barcodes right after I swapped the battery — the scan beam comes on but nothing registers. What's wrong?
The imager or laser module needs a minimum voltage to process and transmit a scan result. If the replacement pack shipped partially discharged, the cell may be too low to sustain the scan trigger plus the radio simultaneously, even though the screen powers on. Seat the terminal in the cradle first and let it charge before using it on the floor. Once the pack reaches at least 3.6V, the scanner will complete reads and send them normally.
The terminal runs noticeably warm after a few hours on the picking floor — is the battery causing that?
Sustained back-to-back scanning combined with continuous wireless polling generates steady current draw in an enclosed housing with limited airflow. The heat comes from both the battery cell under load and the radio module, not from a fault. As long as the terminal isn't hot to the touch and isn't shutting itself down, this is within normal operating range. If the housing feels too hot to hold comfortably, dock the unit for 10 minutes and check whether the cradle is reporting a temperature fault.
This replacement pack seems to drain faster than our old batteries did by the end of the shift — same usage pattern, same number of scans. What causes that?
Older packs that appeared to last longer were likely operating on degraded capacity — a battery that's been through 300-plus cycles reads "full" but holds less charge than its rating. A new 2500mAh pack at full charge should outperform a worn original; if it doesn't, the pack wasn't fully charged before deployment. Run a complete charge cycle in the cradle from a low state, confirm the dock green-lights the charge complete, then track shift performance — a properly conditioned new cell will recover the endurance you'd lost.
