This 3.7V 6600mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the BT-902 pack in Vocollect Talkman A700, A710, A720, and A730 voice-directed picking terminals. It fits the full A700 family used across warehouse and distribution centre pick-and-pack operations. Voltage and cell chemistry match the original spec exactly.

  • A700 series platform compatibility: The A700, A710, A720, and A730 all share the same 3.7V battery rail, BT-902 connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits the entire line without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a Talkman A700 unit. The BMS communicated correctly with the terminal, held the voltage rail stable during combined audio prompting and wireless polling, and tripped cutoff cleanly at the low-voltage threshold.
  • First-shift preparation: After installing, place the terminal in its cradle for a full charge cycle before deploying it on the floor — the scan trigger and voice-prompt inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum, and a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the opening shift.

A new pack stored in transit can arrive with surface oxidation on the contact pads. The Talkman cradle reads contact resistance before initiating charge, and elevated resistance triggers a fault rather than a charge cycle. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle dock with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the terminal firmly until it clicks. If the error clears, run a full charge before the next shift.

Terminal losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The Talkman A700 draws simultaneously from the wireless radio and the barcode imager during fast scan sequences. Combined inrush can cause a momentary voltage sag at the battery terminals, and if the cell is partially discharged, the BMS may trip the output to protect the cell — dropping the wireless session. This is most common when the battery is below 3.5V under load. Keep the pack above 20% charge during heavy-burst picking tasks to stay above the sag threshold.

If the pack is partially discharged, that sag can dip below the BMS cutoff threshold and drop the wireless session momentarily. This isn't a fault in the battery — it's a load management issue. The cradle is showing a charging error on the new BT-902 pack but charged the old battery fine — how do I fix it?

The Talkman cradle checks contact resistance before it starts a charge cycle, and a new pack can have light oxidation on the contact pads from storage in transit. Pull the terminal out, wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the dock with a dry lint-free cloth, and reseat the terminal until it clicks. That drop in contact resistance is usually enough to clear the fault and start the charge cycle normally.

The A700 terminal feels noticeably warm after a full picking shift — is something wrong with the battery?

Moderate warmth is normal — the A700 housing is compact, and sustained draw from both the wireless radio and the voice-prompting circuit generates heat that has nowhere to go in an enclosed case. If the terminal is hot to the touch or shuts down unexpectedly, check that the battery contacts are fully seated and that the pack is not being charged in an environment above 40°C. Normal operating warmth on a long shift does not indicate a fault; a shutdown at full charge points to a seating or environment issue instead.
