Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vortex HD65Plus — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (GSP476386)
This is a 3.85V, 4800mAh (18.48Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the Vortex HD65Plus and HD65+. It replaces OEM part GSP476386. Fit this cell when the original no longer holds a charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly under load.
- HD65Plus and HD65+ compatibility: Both model variants share the same battery bay dimensions (91.30 × 63.70 × 5.50mm), voltage rail, and connector pinout. The BMS handshake is identical across both, so one cell covers either variant without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the HD65Plus. The BMS accepted the cell without rejection flags, charge current stepped down correctly at 4.35V, and the protection circuit tripped as expected on a simulated over-discharge event.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging starts. Skip this step and the coulomb counter will read against the old cell's curve, causing inaccurate percentage reporting from day one.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
A new Li-Polymer cell has a steeper voltage cliff than a worn original — the phone's protection circuit cuts power before the percentage display reaches zero. The modem and display together draw enough current to pull cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold while the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. After one or two full discharge-charge cycles, the gauge IC recalibrates against the actual cell curve and the shutdowns stop. If they continue past three cycles, check that the charge IC brought the cell to at least 4.34V before the phone disconnected from charge.
Phone warm near the battery during the first few charges
A new high-impedance cell dissipates more energy as heat during the first charge cycles than a broken-in cell does. The charge IC on the HD65Plus does not throttle current on the first cycle, so internal resistance in the fresh cell produces noticeable warmth near the battery bay. This is normal for the first two to three charges and fades as internal resistance drops. If the phone stays warm past the fifth full charge, measure charge voltage at termination — it should reach 4.35V and hold, not keep climbing.

Frequently Asked Questions
My HD65Plus shows 25% battery and then just cuts off — why does this keep happening with the new battery?
The fuel gauge IC is still reading against the old cell's discharge curve, so the percentage shown does not match the actual cell voltage. When the modem or screen pulls current, voltage drops past the BMS cutoff threshold faster than the gauge predicts. Run two full discharge-charge cycles with fast charging turned off — the coulomb counter will remap to the new cell's curve and the cutoff point should shift back toward 0%. If shutdowns continue after three cycles, confirm the cell is reaching 4.34V at charge termination.
After fitting the GSP476386, the phone won't fast charge — it just trickle charges all night.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, some USB-PD and proprietary fast-charge protocols do not handshake correctly with the new BMS until the cell has completed one standard charge. Plug into a standard 5V charger and run a full charge-discharge cycle first. After that, reconnect to the fast charger — the BMS should negotiate the higher current rate normally. If fast charge still does not kick in, check that the USB-C port itself is clean and that no moisture flag has tripped in the charge IC.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically — it reads 60%, drops to 41%, then jumps back up.
This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating after the cell swap. The coulomb counter lost its reference point when the old battery was disconnected and is estimating state-of-charge from voltage alone, which is noisy on a Li-Polymer cell mid-discharge. Run the phone from 100% down to automatic shutdown without interruption, then charge fully to 100% without unplugging early — this gives the IC a complete dataset to anchor its curve. Erratic jumps typically stabilise within two full cycles.
