Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Walker W425 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery for the Walker W425 cordless phone handset. It replaces the original cell pack when the handset no longer holds a charge or powers on reliably. Dimensions are 45.60 x 31.30 x 10.60mm — measure your existing cell before ordering if you are unsure.

  • W425 handset fit: The W425 uses a 3-cell Ni-MH pack at 3.6V to run the DECT radio module and handset logic board. This replacement matches that voltage and physical footprint so the battery seats correctly in the compartment without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a Ni-MH compatible charger. The BMS accepted charge normally and the cell voltage stabilised at 3.6V nominal across full cycles without cutoff trips.
  • First charge on the W425: After installing, seat the handset in the base station and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in a partial-discharge state will not reach rated capacity on a short charge — the slow first cycle lets the cells balance properly.

Range drop on the W425 after a battery swap

The W425 DECT radio pulls a short current spike every time it transmits. A Ni-MH cell that has not completed its first full conditioning cycle has higher internal resistance than a fully conditioned pack. That resistance causes the voltage to sag briefly under RF load, and the radio backs off transmit power to compensate. Run three to five full charge and discharge cycles to let internal resistance drop to its rated level.

Handset not pairing with the base after battery replacement

Removing the battery cuts all power to the W425 handset, which can wipe the DECT pairing registration stored in volatile memory. The base station and handset each hold a shared access rights key — when both sides lose sync, the handset shows no line or fails to connect to the base. To re-pair, press and hold the registration button on the base unit until the indicator flashes, then initiate handset registration from the phone menu. Check your W425 manual for the exact key sequence if the menu label differs.

Frequently Asked Questions

My W425 talk time is much shorter than it used to be — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged state and do not deliver full rated capacity until they have been through three to five complete charge and discharge cycles. Each cycle builds the electrochemical capacity of the cells toward the rated 700mAh. Run the handset until it signals low battery, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — talk time will increase noticeably by the third cycle.

The base station charge light is not coming on after I installed the new battery — what is wrong?

A Ni-MH pack sitting in storage drops below the voltage threshold some base stations use to detect a valid battery. The W425 base may show no charge activity or an error light if the incoming cell voltage reads too low at the charging contacts. Remove the handset, clean the charge contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, reseat the handset firmly, and leave it for 30 minutes — most base chargers will begin a recovery charge once contact is confirmed and will switch to a normal charge curve once the pack reaches approximately 3.0V.

The W425 battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — why?

This is a standby draw issue, not a battery fault. The handset must be fully and correctly seated in the base cradle for the charging contacts to make continuous contact. If the handset sits at a slight angle or the contacts are dirty, the base stops delivering charge current while the handset continues drawing standby power from the battery. Check that the handset clicks into the cradle and that the charge indicator light stays on — if the light goes out when you release the handset, reposition it until the light holds steady.
