Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Wella Xpert HS71 / HS75 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1531582)
This is a 3.7V, 1400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Wella Xpert HS71, HS71 Profi, and HS75 cordless hair clippers. It replaces OEM part number 1531582 and the compatible cell reference 1/UR18500L. Swap it when the original battery no longer holds a charge or the clipper dies well before a full cut is done.
- HS71, HS71 Profi, and HS75 compatibility: All three models share the same single-cell 3.7V architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one cell covers the entire Xpert line.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the HS71's BMS under full motor load. The protection circuit responded correctly to both over-discharge cutoff and charge termination — no false trips, no voltage drop at the connector outside the expected discharge curve.
- Charging port care after cleaning product exposure: Wella clippers are often rinsed or wiped with spirit-based cleaners. If any residue reaches the charging contacts before they dry completely, the BMS trips a protection fault the device shows as a dead battery — not a charging error. Dry the port thoroughly before docking.
Why the HS71 loses cutting power before the indicator reaches empty
The HS71 motor draws a short current spike on each cut stroke. As a Li-ion cell ages, its internal resistance rises — so those spikes pull the terminal voltage down momentarily, even when state-of-charge still looks acceptable. The BMS reads the voltage dip as a low-battery condition and throttles motor output before the LED indicator catches up. The result is a clipper that feels weak and drags through hair while the indicator still shows charge remaining. Replacing the cell restores the low internal resistance that keeps terminal voltage stable under motor load.
Indicator drifting after daily partial charges on the HS71
Charging the clipper every day after short use — without letting the cell discharge meaningfully — causes shallow-cycle drift. The BMS loses its calibration reference for where full and empty actually are, so the indicator starts misfiring: reporting full when capacity has faded, or cutting out earlier than the display suggests. A full discharge followed by a complete charge cycle recalibrates the reference points. If the drift persists after two full cycles, the cell has degraded beyond recovery and replacement is the correct fix.

Frequently Asked Questions
My HS71 slows down and drags through hair halfway through a cut, but the battery indicator still shows charge — what's happening?
This is voltage sag under motor load, not a capacity problem. As the cell ages, rising internal resistance causes the terminal voltage to drop during each cut stroke, and the BMS throttles motor speed to protect the cell — even though the indicator hasn't caught up. The indicator reads average state-of-charge, not instantaneous voltage under load, so the two fall out of sync. Fitting a new cell with low internal resistance brings the terminal voltage back into the stable range the motor needs.
After rinsing my HS71, it went into the dock and now won't charge at all — is the battery dead?
Almost certainly not a dead battery — this is a BMS protection trip caused by moisture bridging the charging contacts. When water or cleaning product reaches the dock pins before they dry, the BMS detects an abnormal voltage condition and locks out charging entirely. Remove the clipper from the dock, dry the charging port and pins thoroughly, leave it at room temperature for 30 minutes, then try docking again. If the charging fault clears, the cell is fine; if it still won't charge after confirmed dry contacts, the cell itself may need replacement.
The HS71 feels warm to touch during a long session — is that normal or a sign the battery is failing?
Some warmth is normal — the motor and the discharging cell both generate heat inside a compact housing with limited airflow. However, if the clipper gets noticeably hot rather than warm, or shuts off mid-use without the low-battery indicator triggering, the cell's internal resistance has increased to the point where it's dissipating excess energy as heat under load. Check the surface temperature after a full cut: warm to the touch is acceptable, too hot to hold comfortably is not. At that point the cell needs replacing before the BMS thermal cutoff becomes a recurring problem.
