Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xplore M98 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (T-00022420)
This 3.7V, 950mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the original cell in the Xplore M98 rugged mobile device. The M98 is a compact industrial smartphone built for field environments where battery condition directly affects operational readiness. Voltage and capacity match the OEM specification (T-00022420 / B092) exactly.
- M98 platform fit: The M98 uses a sealed Li-Polymer cell with a proprietary BMS handshake that checks cell impedance on boot. This replacement cell presents the correct impedance profile, so the device passes its power-on self-test without triggering a fault flag.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the M98 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without lockout, the fuel gauge IC began tracking state-of-charge correctly after one complete cycle, and charge termination triggered at the expected 4.2V cutoff.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
A new Li-Polymer cell has a slightly different voltage-versus-capacity curve than the aged cell the fuel gauge IC was calibrated to. When the OS believes the battery is at 25%, the actual cell voltage may already be dropping steeply under modem or display load. The BMS hits its low-voltage cutoff floor and shuts the device down to protect the cell — not because the battery is faulty. One full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle lets the coulomb counter reset its endpoints and map the correct curve. After that cycle, reported percentage and actual remaining capacity align.
Device will not power on after sitting in storage
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage. If this battery has sat long enough to drop below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a protective lockout and blocks all current flow — including the trickle current needed to start a charge. The M98 will show nothing on screen when you press the power button or connect a charger. To recover, connect the device to its OEM charger and leave it undisturbed for 20–30 minutes. The charge IC applies a low-current pre-charge pulse that nudges the cell above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 3.0V, at which point normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
The M98 percentage jumps from 30% straight to 15% and then the phone shuts off — is the replacement battery bad?
The cell is not bad — the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. The new cell holds voltage differently under load, so the reported percentage and the real state-of-charge fall out of sync. Run one full uninterrupted discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle the coulomb counter resets its endpoints and the jumps stop.
Fast charging worked fine on the old battery but won't activate on the new one — the phone just trickle charges
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the BMS on the replacement cell presents a high initial impedance reading. The M98's charge IC interprets this as an anomalous cell state and falls back to standard charge current rather than enabling the higher-current fast-charge path. This is expected behaviour, not a fault. Complete one full standard charge cycle; impedance drops as the cell forms properly, and fast charging activates on the next session.
The M98 feels warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell — should I stop?
Moderate warmth on the first few charges is normal. A fresh Li-Polymer cell starts with higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more energy as heat during the CC phase. If the device is too hot to hold comfortably or the charge IC is throttling visible in the battery settings, stop charging and let it cool to room temperature before reconnecting. By the third charge cycle, impedance drops and warmth returns to the level you saw with the original battery.
