Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sonim XP3 Quest / XP1 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (XP1-0001100)
This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion battery for the Sonim XP3 Quest, XP1, and XP1 BT rugged smartphones. It matches OEM part number XP1-0001100 and fits directly into the original battery bay. If your XP3 Quest is shutting down unexpectedly or no longer holding a charge, this cell replaces the original.
- XP3 Quest, XP1, and XP1 BT fit: All three models share the same battery footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The cell dimensions — 55.11 × 35.55 × 5.77mm — match the original bay exactly, so no modification is needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the XP3 Quest platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the charge IC stepped through trickle, constant-current, and constant-voltage phases correctly.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins. Skipping this step is what causes erratic percentage readings in the first week.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the XP3 Quest after a cell swap
The XP3 Quest's fuel gauge IC holds a discharge model calibrated to the original cell. A new cell with a slightly different internal resistance profile hits its voltage floor at a different state-of-charge point than the old model predicts. Under modem or screen load — both high-draw events — the cell voltage sags below the BMS cutoff before the gauge reaches 0%. The phone reads 25% and powers off hard. One full discharge cycle without fast charging allows the coulomb counter to resync to the new cell's actual voltage curve. After that cycle, the shutdowns stop.
Phone warm near the battery during the first few charges
A new Li-ion cell starts with higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. The charge IC pushes the same current it used on the old cell, but the higher resistance generates more heat in the new one. This is normal for the first three to five charge cycles as the cell's internal structure settles. Keep the phone out of cases during those first charges to let heat dissipate. By cycle five, impedance drops and the warmth resolves. If the phone stays hot beyond that point, check that the charge IC has not locked into a higher-current fast-charge profile — drop to standard 5V charging until the cell is fully broken in.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Sonim XP3 Quest won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for a few months — is the new battery dead already?
The BMS locks the cell out when voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell during extended storage — this is a protection cutoff, not a dead battery. Plug into a wall charger, not a PC USB port, and leave it connected for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button. The charge IC needs time to push enough trickle current through the locked-out BMS to bring cell voltage back above the recovery threshold. If the phone still won't boot after 30 minutes on the wall charger, try a different cable — the XP3 Quest's charge port is well-sealed but a faulty cable is the next most common cause.
The battery percentage on my XP3 Quest jumps around — it was at 60%, then jumped to 80%, then dropped to 45% in ten minutes. What's going on?
The fuel gauge IC is running a discharge model that was calibrated to your old cell. The new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve is different enough that the coulomb counter is making large corrections as it gathers real data. Run one complete discharge — use the phone normally until it shuts itself off — then charge it uninterrupted to 100% without removing it from the charger. That single full cycle gives the fuel gauge IC enough data points to recalibrate against the new cell. Erratic jumps should stop after that cycle.
Fast charging stopped working after I put in the replacement battery — the XP3 Quest now charges slowly every time. How do I fix it?
On the first cycle after a cell swap, some charge ICs default to standard constant-current charging because the BMS presents as an unverified cell until a handshake completes. Fully discharge the phone to automatic shutdown, then charge it to 100% on a standard 5V charger — no fast-charge adapter on this first cycle. After that cycle completes, reconnect your fast-charge adapter. The BMS handshake should be accepted and the charge IC will step back up to its higher-current profile.
