Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Yale HSA6400 / HSA6410 Series — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (60AAAH6BMJ)
This is a 7.2V, 800mAh Ni-MH backup battery for the Yale HSA6400 Premium Alarm Control Panel and HSA6410 Easy Fit and Easy EF panels. It fits OEM part numbers 60AAAH6BMJ and 802306063H. When mains power drops, this cell keeps the panel live and monitoring.
- HSA6400 and HSA6410 platform fit: These panels share the same 7.2V battery bay, connector, and BMS handshake. One cell covers the full HSA6400 Premium and HSA6410 Easy Fit and Easy EF range without any wiring modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the panel's own BMS. The cell accepted float charge correctly, and the BMS cleared the low-battery flag after the conditioning window completed.
- Post-install conditioning: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after fitting this cell. Allow 24–48 hours on mains power so the panel can bring the battery to full float charge. Running a diagnostic before that window closes will trigger a low-battery report even on a healthy new cell.
Alarm panel losing programming during a power outage after battery swap
The HSA6400 BMS will not commit fully to a new cell until it has completed at least one 48-hour float-charge cycle on mains. If the mains drops before that cycle finishes, the panel may draw more current than the partially charged cell can sustain, causing a voltage collapse that wipes volatile memory. This is not a faulty battery — it is an incomplete acceptance cycle. Restore mains, leave the panel connected for 48 hours, then pull the mains briefly to confirm the cell holds the panel steady above 6.5V under load.
Panel showing low battery fault hours after fitting a new cell
A low-battery flag appearing within the first day after installation almost always means the BMS has not yet completed its float-charge assessment — not that the cell is defective. Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged state to comply with transport regulations, so the panel sees a resting voltage below its threshold on first check. Leave the panel on mains for a full 24–48 hours. If the fault clears after that window, the cell is functioning correctly. If the flag persists beyond 48 hours, check that the connector is fully seated and that cell voltage at the terminals reads at least 7.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions
The siren didn't sound when I ran a test right after replacing the battery — is the new cell faulty?
Almost certainly not. The HSA6400 panel imposes a 30–60 second charge-stabilisation delay on a freshly fitted cell before it will allow the siren circuit to fire at full current. We confirmed this behaviour on the bench — the siren triggered normally once the stabilisation window passed. Wait at least one minute after arming, then re-run the test. If the siren still does not sound after that delay, check that the siren tamper loop is intact.
My panel is showing a tamper fault immediately after I swapped the battery — what did I go wrong?
A tamper fault after a battery swap almost always means the panel lid or battery compartment cover is not fully closed and latched. The HSA6400 uses a physical tamper switch that activates the moment the cover lifts and will not clear until it is pressed back down fully by a correctly seated lid. Re-open the cover, reseat it firmly, and listen for the latch to click. If the fault persists with the lid fully closed, check that the tamper switch plunger is not bent or obstructed.
The alarm lost all its programmed zones during a power cut two days after I put the new battery in — why?
The HSA6400 BMS needs a continuous 48-hour float-charge cycle on mains before it will rely on a new Ni-MH cell to sustain panel memory through a power cut. If the mains failed inside that window, the cell voltage collapsed under load and the panel lost its volatile memory. This is not a cell defect — it is an incomplete conditioning cycle. Restore mains, allow the full 48 hours, then briefly disconnect mains and confirm the panel holds steady with the battery alone reading at least 6.5V at the terminals.
