Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Zaco A10 Pro — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CMICR18650F8M-4S1P)
This is a 14.4V 2600mAh lithium-ion replacement battery for the Zaco A10 Pro robotic vacuum cleaner. It fits directly into the A10 Pro and restores the unit's cleaning and navigation power after the original cell pack degrades. Voltage and capacity match the OEM specification: 14.4V, 2600mAh (37.44Wh).
- A10 Pro battery platform: The A10 Pro uses a 4S1P 18650 cell configuration running at 14.4V nominal. The BMS monitors cell balance across all four cells and will shut the unit down if any cell drops out of range — a common result of an aged pack where one cell degrades faster than the others.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a 14.4V Li-ion test rig and confirmed the BMS trips correctly on overcurrent — protecting the motor controller during high-draw cleaning passes. Cell balance held within acceptable limits across all four cells.
- Dock charging behaviour on the A10 Pro: Do not leave the A10 Pro on the charging dock continuously. Robotic vacuums on permanent dock charge experience capacity fade significantly faster than units charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
This happens because the A10 Pro's motor draw spikes whenever suction is restricted — a partially blocked filter or brush roll forces the motor to pull more current than the pack can sustain at its rated voltage. The BMS responds by reducing output to protect the cells, which reads as a suction drop rather than a low-battery warning. The indicator reflects state of charge, not instantaneous voltage sag under load. Clean the filter first; if suction still drops early, the pack voltage under load is likely sagging below 12V — a sign the cells need replacing.
Motor cuts out mid-clean then recovers after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a motor fault. When the brush roll meets a heavy-carpet load or a partial blockage, current draw spikes sharply. The BMS cuts output to prevent cell damage, the motor stops, and after the protection timer resets — typically a few seconds — the unit resumes. If this happens repeatedly, check the brush roll for hair wrap and inspect the filter for restriction. A degraded cell pack that can no longer sustain the current demanded by the motor will also trigger this cycle; if clearing blockages does not stop the cut-outs, the battery is the next item to replace.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Zaco A10 Pro keeps stopping mid-clean and restarting on its own — is that a battery fault?
That stop-restart pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a software glitch. The motor pulls more current than the pack can deliver — usually because the brush roll is wrapped with hair or the filter is partially blocked — and the BMS cuts output to protect the cells. Clear the brush roll and clean the filter first. If the cut-outs continue on an unobstructed run, the cell pack is no longer sustaining the current the motor needs and should be replaced.
The A10 Pro's runtime has dropped noticeably over the past few months even though the battery shows full before each clean — what causes that?
Capacity fade from continuous dock charging is the most common cause in robotic vacuums. When the unit sits on the dock between every clean cycle, the cells are held at full charge voltage indefinitely — this accelerates degradation faster than normal discharge cycling does. The battery indicator shows a full charge because the pack voltage reads correctly at rest, but usable capacity has dropped. Charge only when the unit is depleted, remove it from the dock once full, and replace the pack if fade has already progressed significantly.
The replacement battery is installed but the A10 Pro won't charge — the dock light stays off or flashes an error.
The A10 Pro's charging circuit performs a BMS handshake before it begins charging — if the BMS in the replacement pack does not respond as expected, the charger will not initiate. First, seat the battery firmly and check that the dock contacts are clean and making full contact with the unit. If the dock light still fails to respond, place the robot on the dock for 10–15 minutes without moving it — some units require a brief low-current initialisation pass before the BMS registers. Verify the dock output is reading close to 16.8V (the full-charge target for a 14.4V Li-ion pack) using a multimeter before assuming a faulty battery.
