Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zaco A4s / A6 / A8s / A9s — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (501929)
This is a 14.8V, 2600mAh lithium-ion battery for Zaco robot vacuum cleaners. It fits the A4s, A6, A8s, and A9s models using OEM part number 501929. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to complete a cleaning cycle.
- A4s / A6 / A8s / A9s platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, 14.8V four-cell architecture, and BMS connector pinout — which is why a single replacement cell covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the A4s platform. The BMS responded correctly to motor-start current draw, and cell balancing ran without fault flags across multiple cycles.
- Dock charging habit on the A4s: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the dock permanently between uses. Continuous trickle charging degrades lithium cell capacity faster than intermittent charge cycles. Charge to full, then remove from the dock until the next run.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The A4s motor controller draws harder when suction is restricted — a clogged filter forces the motor to compensate, pulling more current than the BMS expects at that state of charge. The BMS reads this as a near-empty cell and reduces output voltage to protect the pack. Clean the filter first. If suction recovers immediately after a filter clean, the battery was not the cause.
Motor cutting out mid-run and then recovering after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the A4s hits a carpet transition or a blockage, current demand spikes sharply. If the pack is aged or the filter is partially restricted, that spike crosses the BMS overcurrent threshold and the circuit opens briefly. The BMS resets itself once current normalises — usually within a few seconds. If this happens on a new replacement battery, check for a blockage in the brush roll or inlet before assuming the cell is faulty. Confirm pack voltage reads at or above 14.4V at rest after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Zaco keeps returning to dock halfway through a clean even though the app shows the battery at 40% — what's going on?
A worn lithium pack loses voltage faster under load than the app's state-of-charge estimate predicts. The vacuum's controller measures actual pack voltage during motor draw, not just the app's reported percentage — when voltage sags below the cutoff threshold under load, the unit returns to dock regardless of what the app displays. A new 14.8V cell with a healthy BMS resolves the gap between reported and actual capacity. After fitting the replacement, run two full discharge-to-dock cycles so the controller re-calibrates its capacity estimate.
I left the Zaco on the dock for several weeks and now it runs noticeably shorter than it used to — is the battery ruined?
Continuous dock charging keeps lithium cells at 100% state of charge indefinitely, which accelerates electrolyte degradation and causes permanent capacity loss. The damage is cumulative — a few weeks causes measurable fade, months can cut usable capacity significantly. The original cell will not recover from this. Fit the replacement 501929 cell and going forward, charge to full then lift the unit off the dock between cleans.
The replacement battery charged fully but the Zaco won't start — it just flashes an error light and powers off immediately.
The A4s BMS performs a handshake with the motor controller at startup. If the replacement cell's BMS parameters fall outside what the controller expects — particularly the initial voltage window or the thermistor signal — the unit throws a protection fault and shuts down. First, confirm the pack is reading 16.4V or close to it after a full charge using a multimeter on the battery contacts. If voltage is correct but the fault persists, place the battery on the charger for a further 30 minutes to allow cell balancing to complete, then retry — this clears a partial-charge BMS lockout in most cases.
