The MC3100 cradle reads battery state through spring-loaded dock contacts on the base of the pack. If those contacts have oxidation or residue from a previous battery, the cradle throws a charging fault even with a healthy new cell installed. Wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth before reseating. If the error clears, the issue was contact resistance — not the battery.

During fast scan sequences, the MC3190 draws current from both the imager and the 802.11 radio simultaneously. If the cell voltage sags below the BMS floor under that combined load, the radio drops its association before the device shows a low-battery warning. A full cradle charge cycle first brings cell voltage to 4.2V and eliminates the sag margin problem.
