Fits Zebra MC3100, MC3190, and MC3190G barcode scanners; replaces OEM part numbers 82-127909-02, BTRY-MC31KAB02, BTRY-MC31KAB02-50, and BTRY-MC3XKABOE.
3.7V, 2500mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers sustained power for full-shift scan and wireless data transmission without voltage sag on trigger pulls.
Connector seats into the scanner's rear battery slot with positive and negative contact pins; locking tab catches on the retention clip.
We ran charge cycles with the Zebra dock cradle — BMS accepted standard trickle current and showed normal cell voltage recovery within two hours of first insertion.
Before deploying the scanner on your first shift, place it in the cradle for a complete charge cycle; the scan trigger draws peak inrush current at minimum charge state and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS cutoffs during rapid barcode burst scanning.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra MC3100 / MC3190 Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (82-127909-02)

This 3.7V, 2500mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original pack in the Zebra MC3100 and MC3190 series handheld mobile computers. These scanners are used in retail and warehouse pick-and-pack workflows where a dead battery stops operations. It cross-references OEM part numbers 82-127909-02, BTRY-MC31KAB02, BTRY-MC31KAB02-50, and BTRY-MC3XKABOE.

  • MC3100 and MC3190 platform fit: These models share the same 3.7V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the MC3190G and MC3190-G13H02E0 alongside the standard MC3100 — no adapter needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the MC3190 BMS with simultaneous wireless radio polling and scan trigger events. The BMS held voltage within spec and did not trip during combined inrush loads.
  • First shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before your first pick-and-pack shift. The scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips at shift start.

Cradle showing charging error on a new pack

The MC3100 cradle reads battery state through spring-loaded dock contacts on the base of the pack. If those contacts have oxidation or residue from a previous battery, the cradle throws a charging fault even with a healthy new cell installed. Wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth before reseating. If the error clears, the issue was contact resistance — not the battery.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

During fast scan sequences, the MC3190 draws current from both the imager and the 802.11 radio simultaneously. If the cell voltage sags below the BMS floor under that combined load, the radio drops its association before the device shows a low-battery warning. This is more common with aged cells but can also happen on a new pack that was shipped at storage charge. A full cradle charge cycle first brings cell voltage to 4.2V and eliminates the sag margin problem.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MC3190 scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped in the new battery — what's wrong?

The imager or laser in the MC3190 needs stable voltage above a minimum threshold to fire correctly. A battery shipped at storage charge (typically around 3.6–3.7V) can fall short of that threshold under the inrush of a cold scan trigger. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge to full (4.2V) before using it on the floor — the read failures will stop once the cell is fully charged.

The cradle is flashing a charge error on the new pack but charged the old battery fine — is the cradle broken?

The cradle is almost certainly not broken. The MC3100 cradle communicates with the battery through contact pins, and those pins accumulate oxidation over time. A new pack with clean contacts can still fail to handshake if the cradle-side pins are dirty. Wipe both the cradle contacts and the gold pads on the new pack with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and the error should clear.

The scanner runs warm after a few hours on shift — is that a battery issue?

Sustained warmth in the MC3190 during long shifts comes from the combined draw of continuous wireless radio polling and repeated scan trigger events inside a tightly enclosed housing with limited airflow. The battery itself dissipates heat during that combined load. If the housing is warm but not hot to the touch and no fault codes appear, this is within normal operating range. If the device throws an over-temperature alert, remove it from service and let it cool to room temperature before checking for a BMS fault code in the device settings.
