Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Symbol MC31 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (82-127909-02)
This is a 3.7V Li-ion battery rated at 4400mAh (16.28Wh), built to fit Symbol MC31-series handheld barcode scanners. These scanners run in retail, warehouse, and logistics environments where continuous scanning across full shifts is the norm. The OEM part numbers covered include 82-127909-02, BTRY-MC31KAB02, BTRY-MC31KAB02-50, and BTRY-MC3XKABOE.
- MC31 series platform fit: The MC31 line shares a common battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol across its variants. This pack communicates state-of-charge data back to the host device over the same data line as the original — the scanner's charge indicator and battery status screen behave normally after installation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on MC31 hardware. The BMS handled scan-trigger inrush without tripping, and the protection circuit responded correctly to both over-voltage and under-voltage thresholds during load testing.
- First-shift install tip: After dropping this pack in, seat the scanner in its cradle and let it complete a full charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift. Scan-trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum charge — a fully topped cell prevents false BMS cutoff events during the first hour of use.
Cradle showing charging error on a new pack
Charging docks on MC31 cradles read pack state through the contact array on the battery's base. If those contacts have any oxidation, residue from handling, or misalignment from a partial seat, the dock throws a charging fault rather than starting the charge cycle. Wipe the contacts on both the battery and the cradle slot with a dry cloth, then press the pack firmly until it clicks into the bay. If the error clears, the connection was the issue — not the pack itself. A correctly seated pack should register on the cradle within 10 seconds.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The MC31 draws simultaneously from the wireless radio and the scan trigger during rapid burst scanning. At low state-of-charge, this combined inrush can cause a momentary voltage sag that the BMS interprets as a load fault, briefly cutting power to the radio module. The result looks like a Wi-Fi dropout or connection reset mid-scan, not a battery error. Keep the pack above 20% charge during high-frequency scanning shifts — the sag margin at that level is sufficient to carry both loads without triggering the protection circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MC31 scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I put the new battery in — is the battery dead already?
The battery is almost certainly fine. The laser or imager on the MC31 requires a minimum supply voltage to fire, and a new pack that hasn't been charged yet may sit just below that threshold straight out of the box. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge it fully before use — once the cell reaches at least 3.6V under load, the imager powers normally and scanning resumes.
The scanner feels noticeably warm after a full warehouse shift — is something wrong with the pack?
Heat on extended shifts is a normal result of sustained scan-trigger draws combined with continuous wireless polling inside an enclosed plastic housing. The MC31's battery bay has limited airflow, so warmth accumulates. The concern is if the pack stays hot after the scanner sits idle for 20 minutes — that points to a BMS issue or a charging problem. A pack that cools within 15 minutes of ending the shift is operating within normal parameters.
This shift didn't last as long as expected compared to our old batteries — what affects how far a charge goes?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval are the two biggest draws on MC31 scanners. A unit set to aggressive wireless polling — checking in every few seconds — burns through charge faster than one set to a longer interval, independent of how much scanning happens. Check the device's wireless configuration settings and reduce the polling frequency if shift endurance is consistently short. Also confirm the pack completed a full first charge cycle before deployment, as an incomplete initial charge reduces available capacity on that shift.
