Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra RFD2000 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (82-166537-01)
This 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion battery is a direct replacement for the Zebra RFD2000 handheld barcode scanner and data terminal. It fits retail, warehouse, and logistics environments where the scanner runs through full picking and receiving shifts. OEM part numbers 82-166537-01, BT-000341-01, and BTRY-RF20GAB0E-00 all cross to this pack.
- RFD2000 platform fit: The RFD2000 runs a single-cell 3.7V architecture with a BMS that monitors cell temperature and voltage under scan-trigger inrush. This pack matches that voltage rail and connector, so the scanner's firmware recognises the battery on first boot without prompting a charge fault.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the RFD2000's charge and discharge cycle on the bench. The BMS engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff, accepted a full charge via the cradle contacts, and did not trip during repeated scan-trigger pulses from a cold start.
- First-shift preparation on the RFD2000: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and let it complete a full charge cycle before putting it into a pick-and-pack rotation. The scan trigger draws the highest inrush current when the cell is near minimum — a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS trips on the first scan burst of the shift.
Cradle showing charging error on a new pack
A charging error on the RFD2000 cradle is usually contact resistance, not a faulty battery. Oxidation or debris on the gold cradle pins or the battery contacts raises resistance enough that the dock's charge circuit reports a fault before current flow begins. Wipe the battery contacts and cradle pins with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until it clicks. If the error clears within 30 seconds of reseating, the contacts were the cause — not the pack.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The RFD2000 transmits scan data over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth at the same moment the imager fires — both draw current simultaneously. On a degraded or deeply discharged cell, this combined inrush pulls the voltage low enough that the wireless radio drops its connection to maintain core system power. The BMS does not trip, but the radio resets, and the operator sees a disconnect or missed transmission. Charge the battery fully before shift start and keep the device out of deep discharge — if the scanner reads but fails to transmit, check cell voltage and recharge to at least 3.9V before returning it to the floor.

Frequently Asked Questions
My RFD2000 scanner isn't reading barcodes after I swapped the battery — what's wrong?
A freshly installed pack at low state of charge may not supply enough voltage to drive the imager at full power, causing missed or failed reads even though the scanner appears on. Seat the new battery, place the scanner in its cradle, and let it charge fully before scanning. The imager's power draw spikes on every trigger pull — a partially charged cell causes the voltage to sag below the imager's minimum threshold. Once the pack reaches a full charge, reads should return to normal.
The scanner feels noticeably warm after a long shift — is that a problem?
The RFD2000 housing is compact, so heat from sustained scanning combined with continuous Wi-Fi or Bluetooth polling has limited surface area to dissipate through. Warmth after a full shift is normal, but if the casing is hot to hold or the scanner shuts down mid-shift, the BMS is cutting power due to thermal overload. Check that the scanner isn't stored in a confined space like a sealed bin or jacket pocket during breaks — trapped heat raises cell temperature faster than normal use alone. If shutdowns persist, let the unit cool to room temperature and check that the battery contacts are clean before the next shift.
The new battery seems to drain faster than expected — what's causing that?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both pull from the same cell, and the combination runs the pack down faster than single-function use. High-density scanning — tight barcodes, low-contrast labels, or angled reads — causes the imager to fire multiple times per item, increasing current draw per pick. Check the wireless polling rate in your MDM or scanner settings; a short poll interval keeps the radio active between scans and accelerates drain. Reducing unnecessary re-scans and setting the backlight timeout to the shortest acceptable value will extend shift endurance without changing hardware.
