Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hoft & Wessel HW19200 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (FBHWX26580)
This 3.7V 1800mAh Li-ion battery replaces part number FBHWX26580 in Hoft & Wessel handheld barcode scanners. It fits the HW19200, T26582, HW90250, HW90260, and additional models in the same platform family. Capacity is 6.66Wh, matching the original cell specification.
- HW19200 platform compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V power rail, battery footprint, and BMS handshake protocol. Swapping between them does not require a firmware change — the pack communicates directly with the scanner's onboard charge controller using the same pin-out.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through simulated scan-burst cycles and wireless polling loads. The BMS held the output rail steady during combined inrush from the laser trigger and radio transmitter, with no false low-voltage cutoffs at full charge.
- First-shift charging tip: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and let it complete a full charge cycle before deploying it on the pick floor. Scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged pack prevents false BMS trips during the first heavy-use shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
A charging error on a fresh pack almost always traces back to contact resistance between the battery terminals and the dock's charging pins, not a fault in the battery itself. Dust, oxidation, or residue on either surface raises resistance enough that the dock's charge controller reads an incomplete circuit. Wipe the gold contacts on the battery and the corresponding pins inside the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. The error clears once contact resistance drops below the dock's threshold — typically under 100 milliohms.
Scanner stops reading barcodes mid-shift after a battery swap
If the scanner powers on but the imager or laser fails to fire, the cell voltage is likely sitting below the minimum threshold the scan engine needs — usually around 3.4V. This happens when a new pack is installed and immediately put into heavy use without a prior full charge. The BMS protects the scan engine by cutting power to it before the main CPU shuts down, so the device appears alive but won't read. Place the unit in the cradle, charge to 4.2V, then redeploy.

Frequently Asked Questions
The scanner keeps dropping its wireless connection during fast scanning runs — is the battery causing this?
Yes, this is a combined inrush problem. Rapid scan bursts and wireless radio polling both draw current at the same time, and if the cell voltage sags under that combined load, the radio drops its connection before the scanner flags a low-battery warning. It happens most often when the pack is below 50% charge. Keep the pack above 3.7V during shift start — charge fully in the cradle before each shift to stay clear of the sag zone.
The scanner feels noticeably warm after a long shift — is that normal with this battery?
Mild warmth is expected. The HW19200 housing is compact, and sustained scan-plus-wireless draw generates heat that has nowhere to go in an enclosed shell. What's not normal is heat concentrated at the battery compartment rather than spread across the back panel. If the pack itself is hot to the touch, check that the battery contacts are seated flush — a poor connection forces higher current through a smaller contact area, concentrating heat at that point. Reseat the pack and confirm the latch clicks fully closed.
My shift endurance dropped noticeably compared to the old battery even though this one is fully charged — what's happening?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both affect draw in ways the capacity rating doesn't show. If the scanner's polling rate was increased or scan triggers are firing more frequently than before, the pack will deplete faster at the same 1800mAh capacity. Check the scanner's wireless polling setting in the device configuration utility — reducing the poll interval from 100ms to 500ms cuts standby radio draw significantly and recovers measurable shift endurance without changing the battery.
