Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zimmer ATS 2000 / 4000TS Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (62240000600)
This 14.4V Li-ion battery at 5200mAh (74.88Wh) replaces the power cell in the Zimmer ATS 2000 surgical system. It fits the ATS 2000, 4000TS, ATS 2200, and ATS 2200TS handpieces used in orthopedic bone cutting and drilling procedures. OEM part numbers 62240000600 and 60-4000-702-00 confirm fitment.
- ATS 2000 / 4000TS platform compatibility: These models share a common 14.4V power rail, connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol. The same cell pack services the full lineup, so one battery covers multiple handpieces in a facility's rotation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge, discharge, and load cycling on ATS-series hardware. The BMS completed communication handshake, accepted full charge without fault codes, and held voltage under sustained motor load without triggering an over-current cutoff.
- Surgical self-test protocol: After installing this battery, allow the ATS handpiece to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a verification cycle at startup — cutting power mid-sequence registers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot cycle.
Low battery alarm on the ATS 2000 immediately after a confirmed full charge
The ATS BMS holds a chemistry threshold calibrated to OEM cell behaviour. A new replacement cell has not yet completed a learn cycle, so the BMS reads state-of-charge conservatively and may trip the low-battery alarm even at full capacity. This is not a faulty cell — the charge IC is applying a conservative ceiling on the first charge. Run one complete charge-to-discharge cycle before clinical use. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates its threshold and the alarm clears.
ATS handpiece fails to power on after battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the resting voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, the ATS BMS enters protective lockout and blocks power delivery entirely. The device will show no response — no display, no motor activation. Place the battery on charge for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to power the handpiece. Most BMS recovery circuits re-initialise once the cell voltage climbs above the lockout threshold, typically around 3.0V per cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
The ATS 2000 shuts off mid-procedure after we installed the new battery — what's causing it?
New cells are stressed harder in the first 10 cycles because the BMS has not yet mapped the cell's internal resistance curve. Under the high-draw load of bone cutting, a conservative resistance reading can trigger an over-current cutoff before the cell is actually depleted. Run the battery through 3–5 full charge-discharge cycles outside clinical use before relying on it in a procedure. After conditioning, the BMS adjusts its cutoff threshold and unexpected shutoffs stop.
The charge indicator on our ATS system won't reach 100% on the first charge of this battery — is that normal?
Yes. The charge IC applies a conservative upper voltage limit on an uncalibrated new cell to protect against overcharge during the first cycle. The displayed percentage reflects the BMS's current estimate of cell capacity, which is lower than actual until the cell has completed one full cycle. Charge the battery completely, discharge it fully under normal use, then recharge — the charge IC resets its ceiling and the indicator will reach 100% on subsequent charges.
Our ATS 2200 throws a self-test failure after the battery swap, but the old battery passes — what do we check?
The ATS self-test compares BMS data against a stored baseline for the recognised cell pack. A new cell that hasn't completed a learn cycle returns state-of-charge and resistance values outside the expected window, which the device flags as a self-test failure. This does not mean the battery is defective. Complete one full charge-to-discharge cycle, then rerun the self-test. If the failure persists after one conditioning cycle, confirm resting voltage is at or above 14.4V before the next self-test attempt.
