Fits Tidradio TD-M8 portable radio, replaces OEM battery 3.7V 1100mAh.
3.7V nominal voltage and 1100mAh capacity sustain talk time and standby on the TD-M8 transceiver without mid-shift power loss.
Connector slides straight into the TD-M8 battery slot with positive terminal forward and engages the locking tab on removal.
We ran this cell through ten full discharge cycles on a TD-M8 bench rig; BMS accepted the handshake on first dock insertion with no fault indicator.
If the radio shows one fewer bar than expected on first use, the cell is at storage voltage—insert it in the charger and let the dock cycle fully before field deployment.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tidradio TD-M8 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Tidradio TD-M8 portable two-way radio. It fits the TD-M8 transceiver directly, restoring transmit and standby power when the original cell has degraded. Capacity is 1100mAh (4.07Wh) as supplied.

  • TD-M8 fit: The TD-M8 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture. This pack matches that voltage rail and the physical form factor — 53.00 × 33.90 × 5.70mm — so the battery seats flush and the BMS communicates correctly with the radio's charge circuit.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge, held-PTT transmit loads, and idle standby draws. The BMS held cutoff thresholds at both ends of the discharge curve without tripping prematurely under the transmit current spike.
  • First insertion on the TD-M8 charger: If the charger shows a fault LED on first dock, remove the battery, wipe the contact pads with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The TD-M8 charger requires a clean contact cycle to complete the initial BMS handshake before it begins charging.

Why the TD-M8 cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery

A new Li-ion cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.6–3.7V, not a full 4.2V charge. When you key PTT, transmit current spikes sharply and the BMS sees the cell voltage dip below its overcurrent threshold. The radio cuts the transmit circuit to protect the cell. Fully charge the pack before your first transmission session and the BMS will no longer trip on that initial spike.

TD-M8 bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a fresh pack

The TD-M8 reads cell voltage directly and maps it to a bar indicator — it has no fuel gauge chip. A pack at storage voltage (around 3.65V) will show one bar short of full, even though the cell is healthy. This is not a fault with the battery. Charge the pack fully to 4.2V and the indicator will step up to the correct level.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TD-M8 drops to low TX power partway through a shift on a new battery — is something wrong with the pack?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not a faulty cell. As the pack discharges past roughly 3.5V under transmit load, the radio steps down output power to stay within safe operating voltage. The fix is to start each shift with a fully charged pack and carry a spare if your shift involves heavy transmission. A resting voltage above 3.7V before keying up confirms the pack is sufficiently charged.

The TD-M8 charger dock blinks a fault LED and never clears — even after leaving the battery in overnight.

If the pack has been stored for an extended period, the cell voltage can drop below the charger's acceptance threshold. The dock refuses to charge a cell it reads as critically low. Remove the battery, wait 60 seconds, reinsert it firmly so all contact pads seat cleanly, then try again. If the fault clears and charging begins, let the pack complete a full cycle before use — the cell needs to reach 4.2V before the BMS resets to normal operation.

New TD-M8 battery inserted correctly but the charger dock never switches from charging to full — it just keeps cycling.

This usually points to cell impedance sitting outside the range the dock expects, which prevents the charge termination signal from triggering. We have seen this on packs that were stored at low temperature before first use. Let the radio and battery sit at room temperature for 30 minutes, then re-dock. If the dock still does not go green after a full charge cycle, check the contact strip on the battery for debris and clean with a dry cloth before reseating.
