Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BJ530ABE)
This is a 3.85V, 3000mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 smartphone. It fits the SM-J530L, SM-J530K, Galaxy J5 2017 TD-LTE, and related SM-J530 variants. OEM part number EB-BJ530ABE confirms direct fitment to this battery bay.
- SM-J530 series compatibility: All SM-J530 variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The fuel gauge IC across this series reads cell impedance on first boot — the replacement cell must match the original voltage rail at 3.85V nominal for the handshake to complete without error flags.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the SM-J530 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the charge IC progressed normally through trickle, constant-current, and constant-voltage phases to full termination.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and complete one full discharge-charge cycle before resuming fast charge. This allows the coulomb counter to map its calibration curve against the new cell before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated gauge.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This is a voltage cliff issue. When the modem fires a transmission burst or the screen peaks at full brightness, the cell must sustain voltage under that load spike. A new cell with an uncalibrated fuel gauge can show 25% remaining while the actual open-circuit voltage has already dropped close to the BMS cutoff threshold. The phone shuts down because the BMS trips, not because the gauge reads zero. One full discharge-charge cycle recalibrates the coulomb counter and resolves this — confirm the cell reaches 4.35V at full charge termination.
Phone stays dark after sitting in storage — no charge response on screen
If the replacement battery discharged below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters lockout to prevent damage to the cell. Standard charging will not wake it from this state. Connect to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it untouched for 20–40 minutes. The charge IC applies a trickle recovery current that slowly brings the cell voltage back above the BMS re-enable threshold, after which normal charging resumes and the screen responds.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Galaxy J5 2017 shows 100% after charging but drops to 70% within minutes of unplugging — is the new battery faulty?
The cell is most likely fine. The fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell — it does not automatically reset when a new cell is installed. The coulomb counter is misreading state-of-charge against the wrong reference curve. Run one full discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% with fast charging disabled — the gauge recalibrates against the new cell and the percentage readings stabilise.
Fast charging stopped working on the J5 2017 after I swapped the battery — the phone only slow-charges now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes defaults to standard current until it has completed one full charge termination. This is a conservative protection behaviour — the IC does not apply high current to a cell it has not yet profiled. Charge the phone fully once at standard speed, allow it to discharge to around 20%, then charge again. Fast charging protocol typically re-engages from the second cycle onward once the charge IC has a completed profile.
The back of my J5 2017 feels warm near the battery during the first few charges after replacement — is something wrong?
Mild warmth on the first one or two charges is normal for a new Li-Polymer cell. A fresh cell has higher internal impedance than a conditioned one, and the charge IC dissipates slightly more energy as heat during the constant-current phase as a result. If the phone feels hot rather than warm, or if charging stops prematurely, disconnect and check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partially seated connector increases contact resistance and raises heat at the joint. After two or three full cycles, impedance drops and the warmth should be gone.
