Fits Sprint PM8200 smartphone; replaces OEM battery part SPH-M8200.
3.7V, 900mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 3.33Wh to restore full-day runtime on aged devices.
Connector type matches original; slides into battery slot with no modifications or adapters needed.
We bench-cycled this cell on Sprint firmware; BMS accepted charge at 0.5C, fuel gauge recognized capacity on second cycle.
On first use, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sprint PM8200 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Sprint PM8200 smartphone. It slots into the original battery bay and restores power to a device that no longer holds a usable charge. Capacity is 900mAh (3.33Wh), matching the stock specification.

  • PM8200 fit: The PM8200 runs a standard single-cell 3.7V Li-ion configuration. The fuel gauge IC on the board is calibrated to read a cell within this voltage and capacity range — swapping to a cell outside that window causes percentage errors and early shutdowns.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge and charge sequence, monitoring BMS cutoff behaviour at both ends. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold and accepted charge current without fault flags.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installing this battery, disable fast charging for the first complete discharge-charge cycle. The coulomb counter IC on the PM8200 is still mapped to the old cell's discharge curve. One full uninterrupted cycle at standard current lets it recalibrate before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the PM8200 after a cell swap

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity defect. The fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the old, degraded cell. When the modem fires or the screen brightness spikes, current draw pulls the new cell's terminal voltage below the shutdown threshold before the percentage counter expects it. The phone interprets this as a hardware fault and cuts power immediately. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge cycle resets the coulomb counter and resolves the mismatch. After calibration, the shutdowns stop at normal low-battery levels, typically around 3.5V per cell.

PM8200 not powering on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the voltage drops below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters lockout mode to prevent damage. The phone will show no response — no charging indicator, no boot screen. Connect the device to a wall adapter rather than a computer USB port, which may not supply enough current to wake a locked-out BMS. Leave it connected for 15–20 minutes before attempting to power on. If the charging LED activates, the BMS has cleared lockout and the cell is recovering toward the minimum operating voltage of 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Sprint PM8200 show the wrong battery percentage after I put in the new battery?

The fuel gauge IC on the PM8200 stores a discharge curve calibrated to your old cell. The new cell has different internal impedance, so the counter misreads state-of-charge from the first cycle. Run one complete discharge — use the phone until it shuts itself off — then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging early. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter remaps to the new cell and percentage readings stabilise.

Fast charging stopped working on my PM8200 right after I replaced the battery — is the charger broken?

The charger is likely fine. On the first cycle after a cell swap, the BMS on a new cell sometimes does not negotiate the fast-charge handshake until it has completed one standard-rate charge cycle. The charge IC sees an uncalibrated cell and defaults to trickle or standard current as a protection measure. Charge once at standard rate using a basic 5V adapter, let it reach 100%, then reconnect your fast charger — the protocol handshake should resume normally on the second cycle.

My PM8200 feels warm near the battery while charging with the new cell — is that normal?

Some warmth is expected during the first few charge cycles on a new cell. A fresh Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance before it is conditioned, which generates more heat per unit of charge current than a broken-in cell. If the device is hot to the touch or stops charging early, remove it from the case to improve airflow and switch to a standard 5V charger for the first two cycles. Warmth that drops off after two or three cycles is normal; persistent heat above that points to a charge IC fault on the board, not the battery.
