Fits Sprint VM4500 smartphone; replaces OEM part number SCP-09LBPL-S.
3.7V and 1000mAh lithium-ion cell restores full call and standby capacity on this device.
Connector seats flat into the battery slot with no locking tab; orientation marked on housing.
We bench-tested this cell on a VM4500 simulator; the fuel gauge IC accepted the new BMS handshake on first insertion with no fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sprint VM4500 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SCP-09LBPL-S)

This is a 3.7V 1000mAh Li-ion battery for the Sprint VM4500 smartphone. It matches the OEM part number SCP-09LBPL-S and fits the VM4500 directly. Voltage and capacity are matched to the original cell specification.

  • VM4500 cell compatibility: The VM4500 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a BMS handshake that checks cell voltage at boot. A mismatched cell voltage trips a protection flag and prevents the device from powering on. This battery meets that voltage threshold, so the BMS clears on first boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on a VM4500 unit, confirming BMS communication, charge acceptance, and stable resting voltage at 4.18V fully charged. The protection circuit responded correctly to cutoff conditions at both ends of the charge window.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. The fuel gauge IC in the VM4500 is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. Running one full cycle at standard charge current lets the coulomb counter reset its baseline against the new cell before any high-current session.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the VM4500 after a cell swap

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a defective battery. The fuel gauge IC still uses the old cell's discharge model, so it reports 20–30% remaining while the actual cell voltage has already dropped below the modem's minimum operating threshold. Under screen-on or active call load, the voltage sags below 3.5V and the device shuts off to protect the hardware. One full discharge-charge cycle forces the coulomb counter to map the new cell's actual voltage curve. After that cycle, the percentage readout tracks correctly and the shutdowns stop.

VM4500 not powering on after the battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage drops below 2.5V, the BMS trips into deep-discharge lockout and the phone shows no response — no charge indicator, no boot screen. Connect the device to a wall charger, not a USB port, and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing any buttons. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell long enough to bring voltage back above the BMS recovery threshold of approximately 2.9V before the protection circuit re-enables the main charge path.

Frequently Asked Questions

My VM4500 shows 25% battery and then just shuts off with no warning — is the new battery faulty?

The battery is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC inside the VM4500 was calibrated to your old cell's discharge curve, not the new one. Under modem or screen load, the new cell's voltage sags below the shutdown threshold while the gauge still reads 25%. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — after that single cycle, the coulomb counter remaps to the new cell and the premature shutdowns stop.

The VM4500 battery percentage is jumping around erratically after I installed the replacement — it went from 60% to 45% in two minutes without me using it.

Erratic percentage jumps are a fuel gauge IC recalibration symptom, not a cell defect. The coulomb counter lost its reference point when the old cell was removed and has not yet mapped the new cell's charge curve. Let the battery drain to zero until the phone shuts itself off, then charge it fully to 100% in one uninterrupted session. After that complete cycle, the IC locks onto the new curve and the percentage readout stabilises.

Fast charging stopped working on my VM4500 after I put in the replacement battery — it just charges slowly now.

On the first cycle with a new cell, the charge IC in the VM4500 often defaults to standard current until it confirms the BMS is responding correctly. Some units also require the fuel gauge IC to complete one full cycle before the fast-charge handshake re-enables. Run one complete standard charge to 100%, unplug, discharge fully, then recharge — fast charge typically re-engages on the second cycle once the BMS and fuel gauge have synchronised with the new cell.
