Fits Vodafone 888N, 889N, 890N smartphone; replaces OEM CPLD-315 battery.
3.7V and 1800mAh lithium-ion cell restores full charge capacity to aging packs.
Connector slides into original battery slot with positive contact facing upward; no locking tab.
Bench testing showed BMS accepted full charge cycle without fault codes or cutoff anomalies.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vodafone 888N / Smart 4 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CPLD-315)

This is a 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Vodafone 888N, 889N, 890N, and Smart 4 series smartphones. OEM part number CPLD-315. It physically matches the original cell at 60.70 × 56.25 × 5.20mm and connects to the same board-side connector.

  • 888N / 889N / 890N and Smart 4 compatibility: These models share the same voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. All run a 3.7V nominal Li-ion cell at this physical footprint, so one cell revision covers the full lineup without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge and charge sequence on a 888N unit. The BMS accepted the new cell, balancing started within the first charge cycle, and the charge IC held the correct 4.2V cutoff at full capacity.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and complete one full discharge-to-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging is introduced to an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Vodafone 888N after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still reading the old cell's discharge curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff — often around 3.5V under modem or screen load — before the gauge reaches 0%. The phone interprets the voltage drop as an immediate low-battery shutdown rather than a gradual drain. One full discharge-to-zero and recharge cycle forces the coulomb counter to recalibrate against the actual new cell behaviour.

OS reporting incorrect battery percentage after replacement

The Android fuel gauge IC on the 888N stores learned capacity data from the old cell in firmware registers. When a new cell goes in, those stored values no longer match actual cell chemistry, so reported percentage drifts — jumping erratically or freezing at a fixed value. Drain the phone completely until it shuts down automatically, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. After one complete cycle, the fuel gauge resets its baseline to the new cell's actual full-charge voltage of 4.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Vodafone 888N shuts off at around 25% after fitting the new battery — is the cell faulty?

The cell is most likely fine. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve and cannot track the new cell's voltage drop accurately under load. When the modem or screen pulls current, the cell voltage sags below the shutdown threshold while the gauge still shows 25%. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown and a complete uninterrupted recharge — this resets the coulomb counter to the new cell baseline.

Fast charging stopped working on my 888N after I installed this replacement battery — what happened?

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes falls back to standard charging because the BMS on the new cell has not yet completed its initial handshake with the USB charge controller. This is normal. Complete one full standard-rate charge cycle first. On the second cycle, fast charge negotiation should resume normally — if it does not, check that the USB cable supports the required charge protocol, not just data transfer.

My 888N won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before installation — how do I recover it?

Extended storage can drop the cell below 2.5V, which triggers BMS lockout to prevent damage. The phone will not respond to the power button or show a charging screen. Connect it to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC delivers a low-current trickle to bring the cell above the 2.8V BMS re-enable threshold, after which normal charging resumes and the device will power on.
