Fits Motorola MBP855, MBP855CONNECTPU, MBP50, and MBP50-G2 parent units; replaces OEM part BL253.
3.7V lithium-polymer cell at 1700mAh delivers the charge capacity this portable monitor needs for all-day monitoring without midday top-ups.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a positive terminal contact — no locking tab, standard Motorola parent unit orientation.
We bench-tested this cell in an MBP855 unit; the BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault indicators or cutoff events.
After battery installation, re-pair the parent unit with your camera unit — wireless link drops when the unit loses power completely and needs a fresh handshake.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola MBP855 Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BL253)

This is a 3.7V, 1700mAh Li-Polymer battery for the Motorola MBP855 parent unit. It fits the MBP855, MBP855CONNECTPU, MBP50, and MBP50-G2 portable parent units — the handheld screens used to monitor audio and video from a nursery camera. When the original battery degrades and the parent unit stops holding a charge, this is the direct replacement.

  • MBP855 and MBP50 parent units: These models share the BL253 battery format, voltage rail, and connector layout. The parent unit PCB expects 3.7V nominal from a Li-Polymer cell — substituting a different chemistry or voltage causes charging faults or erratic shutdowns.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through charge and discharge cycles on the parent unit. The BMS held within safe cutoff thresholds on both charge termination and low-voltage cutoff, and the unit powered on without faults.
  • Re-pair the parent unit after installation: If the parent unit lost all power before the swap, it will not automatically reconnect to the nursery camera. After installing and powering on, follow the pairing sequence in the manual — typically holding the pair button on both the camera and parent unit simultaneously.

Parent unit not connecting to the camera unit after battery swap

When the parent unit drops to zero volts during a battery replacement, its stored wireless link data can reset. The unit comes back on but sits at the connection screen and never syncs with the nursery camera. This is not a battery fault — it is a power-loss pairing reset. To fix it, press and hold the pairing button on the nursery camera until its LED flashes, then confirm pairing on the parent unit. Most MBP855 units re-establish the link within 30 seconds.

Parent unit battery draining overnight with the screen on

The MBP855 parent unit screen draws continuous power during night-time monitoring — the backlit display is the single largest drain on the 1700mAh cell. Leaving the screen active through an 8-hour night pushes the battery well past a standard use cycle. Enable the screen timeout in the display settings so the screen dims when not actively viewed; the audio feed continues with the screen off. This one change significantly extends how long each charge lasts through the night.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MBP855 parent unit shows the camera connection screen but never actually links up — I just installed the new battery. What's wrong?

A full power-down during the battery swap clears the active wireless pairing on the parent unit. The camera unit still has its settings, but the parent unit is waiting for a fresh handshake. Hold the pairing button on the nursery camera until the indicator flashes, then accept the link on the parent unit screen. The two units should sync within 30 seconds.

The night vision on the nursery camera stopped showing a clear image after I replaced the parent unit battery — the picture is dark and grainy. Is this a camera fault?

Night vision on the MBP855 system uses IR LEDs that are voltage-sensitive — below a threshold the IR output drops and the image degrades. If you installed the new battery and used the unit immediately without a full charge, the cell voltage may still be low. Charge the parent unit fully before assessing night vision quality. If the image is still degraded at a full charge, the camera unit itself needs attention.

The range on my MBP855 parent unit is noticeably shorter than it used to be — I can hear the camera dropping out in rooms I could reach before. Why?

The parent unit's radio transmitter runs on the same cell that powers the screen and speaker — at low state of charge, transmit power drops and effective range shrinks. This is often misread as a battery fault when it is actually a charge-level issue. Charge the parent unit fully and test range again before concluding there is a hardware problem. If range stays reduced at 100% charge, check for new wireless interference sources near the nursery camera.
