Fits Chameleon TR1200, TR1280, and TRI1200 handheld scanners; replaces OEM part 21-36474-01.
6V 2400mAh Li-ion delivers consistent power for barcode reading and wireless transmission throughout a shift.
Connector seats into the battery cradle slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab secures the pack.
Bench testing showed steady voltage delivery under scan-trigger inrush with no BMS early cutoff or thermal drift.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before warehouse use—the scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell nears minimum and a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS trips on first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Chameleon TR1200 Series — 6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (21-36474-01)

This 6V 2400mAh Li-ion battery replaces OEM part 21-36474-01 in the Chameleon TR1200, TR1280, and TRI1200 handheld barcode scanners. These are portable data terminals used in retail, warehouse, and inventory environments where scan uptime matters. Voltage and capacity match the original pack exactly.

  • TR1200, TR1280, and TRI1200 fit: All three models run the same 6V power rail, share the same connector pinout, and use the same BMS handshake. One pack covers the entire family.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger inrush events. The BMS held cutoff thresholds stable across charge and discharge, with no false trips under burst scanning loads.
  • Cradle pre-charge before first shift: After installing, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before use. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell sits near minimum — a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS trips on the first pick-and-pack shift.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

A charging error on a fresh pack almost always comes down to dock contact resistance, not a faulty battery. Oxidation or debris on the pack's gold contacts breaks the charge circuit before current even flows. Wipe the contacts on both the pack and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. If the error clears within 30 seconds of reseating, contact resistance was the cause — not the cell.

Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The TR1200 draws power simultaneously from its radio module and scan trigger during fast barcode capture — these two loads spike together. When the cell voltage sags under combined inrush, the radio drops its connection before the BMS trips. This is not a wireless fault. Ensure the pack is above 5.4V before starting a high-volume scan session, and replace any pack that can no longer hold that voltage under load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TR1200 stopped reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — is something wrong with the scanner?

Nothing is wrong with the scanner. The laser or imager in the TR1200 requires stable voltage to fire — if the new pack shipped partially discharged, the cell may be too low to power the scan engine reliably. Seat the scanner in its cradle and complete a full charge cycle before attempting a scan. Once the pack reaches a full charge, the scan engine will fire normally.

The TR1200 cradle is flashing a charging error with the new pack installed — what do I check first?

The most common cause is contact resistance between the pack and the cradle dock, not a defective cell. Remove the scanner, wipe the gold contacts on the battery and inside the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until it clicks into position. If the charging indicator turns solid within 30 seconds, the contact wipe fixed it — no further action needed.

The new battery doesn't seem to last as long as I expected through a full shift — what affects scan endurance on the TR1200?

Two loads run simultaneously on the TR1200: the wireless radio polling continuously and the scan trigger firing on every barcode capture. High scan-burst frequency combined with active wireless drains the 2400mAh cell faster than low-volume use. Run a full charge cycle in the cradle before each shift and avoid pulling the scanner mid-charge. If endurance is still short after several full cycles, check that the pack voltage under load doesn't sag below 5.4V — a pack that can't hold that floor under dual load needs replacement.
