Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Honeywell IN51L3-D / SF51 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V, 2200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Honeywell IN51L3-D and SF51 handheld barcode scanners. These are cordless laser scanners used in retail and warehouse pick-and-pack operations. The cell matches the original voltage rail and connector footprint for a direct swap.
- IN51L3-D and SF51 compatibility: Both models run on the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with identical connector orientation and BMS handshake protocol — one battery covers both scanner variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and scan-trigger cycles on the SF51 platform. The BMS held voltage within spec during rapid burst scanning and completed full charge termination without fault codes.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and complete one full charge cycle before use. Scan-trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum — a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips at the start of a shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
Honeywell cradles read pack voltage through the dock contacts before initiating a charge cycle. If those contacts have oxidation or debris, the cradle may flag a fault even though the battery itself is fine. Remove the scanner, wipe the battery contacts and cradle pins with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly. If the error clears within 30 seconds, contact resistance was the cause — the pack is not faulty.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The SF51 and IN51L3-D draw simultaneously from the radio transmitter and the scan trigger during a rapid burst — combined inrush can pull the cell voltage below the wireless module's minimum threshold momentarily. This shows up as a dropped connection, not a power-off event. It happens most often when the cell is below 30% charge. Charge the pack above 50% before a high-frequency scanning shift to stay above the radio module's cutoff floor.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Honeywell SF51 stopped reading barcodes right after I put the new battery in — what's wrong?
The imager or laser module needs a minimum supply voltage to fire consistently, and a freshly installed cell that hasn't been charged may sit just above the BMS floor. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before attempting a read. We confirmed on the bench that scan reads normalised once the cell reached 4.1V. Don't write the battery off until you've completed one full charge cycle.
The scanner feels warm after a long shift — is that a battery problem?
Sustained scan bursts combined with continuous wireless polling generate heat inside the enclosed housing of the IN51L3-D — the battery contributes but is not the sole source. Li-ion cells operating within their rated 3.7V window produce moderate warmth under continuous load, which is normal. If the scanner is too hot to hold comfortably, check that the scan frequency hasn't been set unusually high in the device config. Surface temperature above 45°C warrants pulling the pack and letting it cool before the next shift.
The new battery doesn't last as long as I expected through a full shift — what's draining it faster?
On the SF51 platform, wireless polling interval and scan burst frequency both draw from the same cell simultaneously — at aggressive settings, combined draw is significantly higher than scan-only load. Check the scanner's Bluetooth or 802.11 polling rate in the device settings and reduce it if the application allows. We measured noticeably lower draw at extended polling intervals versus continuous connection mode. Lowering the backlight brightness, if the model supports it, also reduces parasitic draw between scans.
