Fits Gryphon RBP-GM40 and GM4100 barcode scanners, replacing OEM part number 128000894.
3.7V 2600mAh lithium-ion cell delivers the voltage and capacity needed for full-shift scanning and wireless transmission without mid-shift drain-outs.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with the locking tab facing outward — orientation matters for dock contact alignment during cradle charging.
We ran charge cycles on a GM4100 cradle dock; the BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and held stable voltage under scan-trigger load spikes.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack — the scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gryphon GM4100 / RBP-GM40 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (128000894)

This 3.7V 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Gryphon GM4100 and RBP-GM40 handheld barcode scanners. It fits the same battery bay and connects to the same BMS contacts as the original. Capacity is 2600mAh — use the product data, not the worn cell you're replacing.

  • GM4100 and RBP-GM40 compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol — one pack covers both units without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through scan-trigger inrush and active Bluetooth polling simultaneously. The BMS held stable voltage delivery across the combined load and registered correct charge state on the cradle display.
  • First-shift prep for pick-and-pack use: After installing the new pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and complete a full charge cycle before pulling it into rotation. Scan-trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum — starting the first shift with a full cell prevents false BMS trips during high-frequency scanning.

Cradle showing a charging error on a brand-new pack

The GM4100 cradle communicates with the battery over a dedicated contact pin — if that pin reads elevated resistance, the dock throws a charge fault before current even flows. New packs sometimes arrive with trace oxidation on the gold contacts from packaging. Wipe the battery contacts and cradle bay with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and the charge indicator should clear within 30 seconds. If the error persists, check that the cradle firmware is not filtering an unrecognised cell ID — a brief power cycle of the dock resets the handshake.

Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The GM4100 draws from the same cell for both the imager and the Bluetooth radio. During fast consecutive scans, the combined inrush from the scan trigger and the radio transmit pulse creates a momentary voltage dip. If the cell voltage sags below the BMS protection floor — typically around 3.0V under load — the BMS cuts output and the radio drops its connection before the imager. A cell below 50% charge makes this worse. Keep the pack above half capacity during high-frequency scan sessions and return it to the cradle between picking runs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my GM4100 stop reading barcodes right after I swap in a new battery?

The imager needs stable voltage above its minimum threshold to fire — a new pack that hasn't been charged from storage may be sitting at 3.3V or lower, which is enough to power the screen but not enough to drive a clean scan pulse. Seat the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before the first use. Once the cell reaches 4.1–4.2V, the imager fires without hesitation.

The cradle charged this battery fine yesterday, but today it's showing a fault light — what changed?

Cradle contact resistance is the most common cause. A single particle of dust or a slight misalignment in the battery bay raises resistance enough for the dock's BMS handshake to time out and flag a fault. Remove the scanner, wipe the battery and cradle contacts with a dry cloth, reseat the unit with firm downward pressure, and power-cycle the cradle. The fault light should clear within 30 seconds of a good contact read.

The scanner feels noticeably warm after a long warehouse shift — is that a battery issue?

Sustained combined load — continuous scanning plus active Bluetooth polling in a sealed plastic housing — generates heat at the cell even within normal operating parameters. Warm to the touch is expected; hot enough to be uncomfortable is not. Check that the scanner's scan-burst rate hasn't been set aggressively short in the device config, as back-to-back triggers without dwell time keep the draw constant. If the housing stays hot after a 10-minute idle break, check that the battery vent path inside the bay isn't blocked by a warped door or debris.
