Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Intermec SF51 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (318-025-001)
This 3.7V, 2200mAh Li-ion cell is a direct replacement for the Intermec SF51 handheld barcode scanner. It fits the SF51 series used in warehouse picking, asset tracking, and point-of-sale environments. OEM part numbers covered include 318-025-001, 317-018-002, 317-018002A, 1016AB01, and 318-024-002.
- SF51 platform fit: The SF51 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture with a BMS that monitors cell voltage and communicates state-of-charge to the host device. Replacement cells must match the voltage rail and BMS handshake protocol — this pack does both.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through scan-burst sequences and monitored BMS cutoff thresholds. The protection circuit responded correctly to over-discharge and over-current events, and the charge IC accepted the pack without fault codes.
- First-shift preparation for the SF51: After installing, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before putting it on the floor. The scan trigger draws the highest inrush current when the cell is near minimum voltage — a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS trips on the opening scans of a shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
The SF51 cradle reads contact resistance before initiating a charge cycle. If dock contacts on the scanner base or cradle are oxidised or dirty, the charger sees an open circuit and throws a fault rather than charging. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery end and the cradle dock with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. If the error clears, the issue was contact resistance — not the battery or charger.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The SF51 pulls simultaneous current for both the scan engine and the wireless radio during a rapid burst sequence. At low state-of-charge, combined draw can cause a brief voltage sag that trips the BMS or starves the radio, dropping the connection mid-session. This is not a radio fault — it is a battery voltage floor issue. Keep the pack above 3.5V during active shifts by swapping at the first low-battery alert rather than working to cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SF51 scanner keeps dropping its wireless connection mid-shift after the battery swap — is something wrong with the new pack?
This usually happens when the battery is running near its lower voltage threshold during peak demand. The SF51 draws current for both the wireless radio and the scan engine at the same time, and the combined load causes a voltage sag that interrupts the radio link. The battery itself is not faulty — swap the pack earlier in the shift, before the low-battery indicator appears, and the dropouts should stop. Target a swap above 3.5V cell voltage to stay clear of the sag threshold.
The SF51 cradle is showing a charging error light on the new battery but charged the old one fine — what is going on?
The SF51 cradle checks contact resistance before it starts a charge cycle, and a marginal reading causes it to flag a fault instead of charging. Wipe the contact pads on the bottom of the scanner and inside the cradle dock with a dry lint-free cloth, then firmly reseat the scanner until it clicks. This clears the fault in most cases. If the error returns after cleaning, check for bent or recessed pins on the cradle dock itself.
The SF51 is not reading barcodes after swapping in the replacement battery — scan trigger clicks but nothing happens.
When a freshly installed battery sits at a low resting voltage, the scan engine may not receive enough power to fire the laser or imager, even though the device appears to power on. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before attempting any scans — this is the most common cause of a non-reading scanner immediately after a battery swap. If it still fails to read after a full charge, check that the scanner window is clean and undamaged. A fully charged cell should measure approximately 4.1–4.2V at rest.
