Fits Honeywell IN51L3-D and SF51 barcode scanners, replaces OEM battery pack.
3.7V lithium-ion at 2600mAh delivers full imaging and wireless radio capacity on each shift.
Connector slides straight into the scanner battery slot with positive contact alignment and rear locking tab.
We bench tested the cell on rapid scan and radio polling cycles — BMS held steady under combined inrush load.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before pick-and-pack work — the scan trigger draw is highest at minimum voltage and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS cutoff on first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Honeywell IN51L3-D / SF51 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 2600mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Honeywell IN51L3-D and SF51 handheld barcode scanners. Both models run the same voltage rail and use the same cell footprint, so one battery covers either unit. Dimensions are 68.20 × 18.50 × 18.50mm — check your existing pack before ordering if unsure.

  • IN51L3-D and SF51 compatibility: Both scanners share an identical battery compartment, connector pitch, and BMS handshake protocol. The same cell works in either unit without any adapter or firmware change.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger inrush events and wireless polling loads. The BMS held stable cutoff thresholds and did not trip false low-voltage shutdowns under combined draw.
  • First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and let it complete a full charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift. Scan-trigger inrush current spikes highest when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged pack prevents the BMS from tripping on the first burst of rapid scans.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

Charging errors on a freshly installed battery almost always come down to contact resistance at the dock, not a faulty cell. Oxidation or debris on the battery's gold contacts creates enough resistance for the cradle to read an open circuit and flag an error. Wipe the contacts on both the battery and the cradle base with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until it clicks. If the error clears within 30 seconds, the contacts were the cause — not the battery.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

During a fast scan burst, the imager and the wireless radio both draw simultaneously, creating a combined current spike that can drag cell voltage below the radio's minimum operating threshold. A degraded or partially charged original battery cannot sustain voltage under this combined load, so the radio drops its link mid-burst while scanning appears to continue. This replacement pack's 2600mAh capacity keeps voltage stable enough under dual-draw conditions that the radio maintains its connection. Start the shift with a full charge to keep the cell voltage well clear of that threshold throughout the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

My IN51L3-D won't read barcodes at all after I put the new battery in — imager light comes on but no decode. What's wrong?

The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire at full power — if the new pack shipped partially discharged, the cell may be just above the BMS cutoff but below the imager's operating threshold. Put the scanner in the cradle and let it charge fully before trying to scan. Once the pack reaches a full charge, the imager should decode normally on the first trigger pull.

The scanner feels noticeably warm after a few hours of continuous scanning — is that a battery problem?

Sustained heat in an enclosed housing is normal when the imager and wireless radio run back-to-back with no idle gaps, but excessive warmth can also mean the BMS is working harder than it should under a marginal cell. We ran this pack through extended scan-plus-radio loads on the bench and surface temperature stayed within acceptable limits. If the heat is concentrated at the battery compartment rather than the top of the unit, check that the battery is seated flush — a loose fit increases contact resistance and generates localised heat.

Our shift endurance dropped noticeably compared to the old battery even though the new one shows full charge — what's causing that?

Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both consume power in ways that don't show up on a charge indicator. If your team increased scan rates or moved to a more aggressive wireless polling cycle, the draw per hour goes up even with an identical cell. Check whether the scanner's radio is set to the shortest polling interval in the device settings — stepping it back one level reduces background draw without affecting scan speed. If the settings haven't changed, verify the cradle completed a full charge cycle rather than a trickle top-up before the shift started.
