Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Newland NLS-PT800 / NLS-PT850 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTY800)
This is a 3.7V Li-ion battery rated at 1100mAh (4.07Wh), built to fit the Newland NLS-PT800, NLS-PT850, NLS-PT850B, and NLS-PT853 handheld barcode scanners. These are compact portable scanners used in retail, warehouse picking, and asset tracking. Swap this pack when your original cell can no longer hold charge through a full shift.
- NLS-PT800 and PT850 series compatibility: All four models share the same 3.7V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One pack fits the PT800, PT850, PT850B, and PT853 without modification or adapter.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the NLS-PT800 platform. The BMS handshake completed correctly on first insertion, charge acceptance was normal, and the protection circuit triggered at expected low-voltage thresholds without false trips during simulated scan bursts.
- First-shift prep for pick-and-pack: Before putting this pack into active rotation, seat the scanner in its cradle and let it complete a full charge cycle. The scan trigger draws the highest inrush current when the cell is near minimum. Starting the first shift on a fully charged cell avoids false BMS cutoffs during the first hour of use.
Cradle showing a charging error after fitting this new pack
Charging docks on the PT800 series read battery state through pogo-pin contacts on the pack's lower face. If those contacts carry oxidation, dust, or residue from the old battery, the dock reports a fault rather than starting a charge cycle. Wipe the gold contacts on the new pack with a dry lint-free cloth before seating it. Re-seat firmly — the dock needs consistent contact pressure to read the BMS correctly. If the error clears, the contact surface was the cause, not the pack or the dock.
Scanner dropping its wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
When a barcode scanner fires its imager and transmits wirelessly at the same time, both draws hit the cell simultaneously. On a degraded or deeply discharged cell, this combined load pulls voltage low enough that the radio drops its connection before the BMS trips. This pack's 1100mAh cell holds voltage more steadily under that dual load than a worn original cell will. If dropouts continue after fitting a fresh pack, check that the scanner firmware is current — some PT850 firmware revisions adjusted the radio polling interval specifically to reduce this inrush overlap.

Frequently Asked Questions
My NLS-PT800 scanner won't read barcodes at all after I swapped the battery — the trigger fires but nothing scans
The imager or laser needs a minimum supply voltage to fire reliably. If the new pack was shipped partially discharged — which is normal for Li-ion storage — the cell may not be delivering enough voltage under load for the scan engine to complete a read. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge it fully before attempting any scans. Once the cell reaches 4.1–4.2V, the scan engine will have the headroom it needs and reads should restore immediately.
The scanner runs warm after a few hours of continuous use — is something wrong with the new battery?
Warmth during extended shifts is normal for this device class. The NLS-PT800 housing is compact, and sustained imager firing combined with wireless polling generates heat that has limited paths out of the enclosure. The pack itself contributes some heat during discharge, but the main source is the scan engine and radio running together in a small shell. If the scanner becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, or shuts down unexpectedly, check that the battery contacts are clean and making full contact — a high-resistance connection forces the cell to work harder and raises pack temperature above normal.
The new battery drains faster than expected across a shift even though the scanner reads fine
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval are the two biggest variables in shift endurance for the PT800. Scanners set to continuous Bluetooth polling — rather than triggered transmission — draw steady radio current even between scans, which adds up fast over a full shift. Check the scanner's wireless configuration and set the radio to on-demand or batch mode if the workflow allows it. Also confirm the firmware is current, as some PT800 and PT850 firmware builds reduced background polling overhead and directly extended charge endurance between cradle visits.
